Lee to start for Noles

FSU: Xavier Lee will start at quarterback Saturday against Virginia, coach Bobby Bowden announced.

Lee made his first career start in the Seminoles' 27-24 loss at Maryland last weekend, completing 22 of 36 passes for 286 yards and two touchdowns. He stepped in for quarterback Drew Weatherford, who started the last 20 games for Florida State (4-4, 2-4 ACC) before injuring his right ankle.

"I hate to see him go down like that, but I'm going to take the opportunity and run with it," Lee said. "He's a great player."

Didn't realize he started against MD.
