Beat writer, nationally recognized or basic fan behind his computer screen.. At the end of the day everyone seems to be crapping all over Ross and his "power structure". My point is that certainly Ross and Co. including his "committee" of Dungy, Martin etc have to be fully aware of the fact that literally everyone on every level is stoning this organization and its approach. My question is how do you think Ross and Co. view this media and fan outlash and do you think that he will cave under the pressure and hire a GM giving him full authority that a well respected GM should have?

How do you think this affects Philbins mindset knowing that everyone views him as a lame duck? How do you think it effects Aponte's mindset knowing that everyone thinks she is the root of the problem? These are fair and important questions that need to be reasonably answered!

I want to know, exactly, what the power structure is before I can make any comment on it or Ross or the organization. Describe to me the setup because there are lots of things the media blows out of proportion that to me are nothing out of the ordinary. For example...getting up from the lunch table when another player sits down is now considered bullying...and I think it's funny.

What Cole said is being contradicted by the fact that the team is lining up multiple interviews with very highly qualified candidates.
Hell it contradicts his own report that Gamble is the #1 target.

I think Ross "knows" what he wants to do, and I think he "knows" that no matter what he does, he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. It's like in politics, half the people are happy and half the people are pissed. So he's going to go through the process he has determined to be best, pick the candidate he determines to be best, and let next season play out. If he's validated, the media and fans will lay off. If he botches it he'll get hammered and he knows it. But he can't worry about fan reaction after NEXT year. He has to do what he believes is best for this year.
No matter what anyone says about Ross, i do not believe he is in this for the money, I believe he wants to win, and I believe that, whether correct or not, the decisions he is about to make will be made with the intention of winning in mind. He is not Daniel Snyder or Jerry Jones.
I think so much false information and speculation has been thrown out that as a result the obsessed fan base, who is tired of missing the playoffs, is whipped into complete frenzy for fear that any decision could be the wrong one. It wouldn't surprise me if Ross and company are sitting back and laughing at us because they see us freaking out and that about which we are freaking out is no where in their plans.

This is how I responded in another thread and this is how I hope it plays out:

The Dolphins compile the list and hopefully most if not all the candidates on the list at least agree to interview and listen to what the organization says. The Dolphins select who they think is the right person and the offer is made- if the person will only agree to come under certain circumstances (ie insisting on picking his own coach or who he reports to etc) than it's going to be all up to Ross. IMO you do what the GM you have selected has requested and put the confidence in him as the best person to lead your organization going forward.

I certainly hope he does not cave because this outlash is just plain invented and stupid.

He probably doesn't even know what's going on.

He's busy making billion dollar real estate deals. In reality, that's the biggest problem this organization has: the owner is an absentee.

I think those who 'report' about some 'secret' power structure should tell us what they are talking about. That goes for fans as well. It is basically just a hit job from a couple of 'reporters' which went viral. And that is the next problem: any 2-cent blogger calls themselves 'journalist', 'reporter', 'beatwriter' etc. The internet and social media enabled them to get 'their word' out.

What can Ross and Co do about it? Nothing. Those who believe knuckleheads like Armando, Jason and Co will continue to do so. Why? Because their message (disregarding that these messages are based on speculation) complies with their own view. It doesn't matter what Ross and Co would say. The same crap will continue.

But look at your very own quote
do you think that he will cave under the pressure and hire a GM giving him full authority that a well respected GM should have?
Has anybody from the Dolphins ever said anything to the contrary? The opinion by some that Ross would not give the new GM the full authority is part of those who continuously slander Aponte because she won a power struggle with Ireland. Forgotten is that Ireland was on our **** list for the past 4 years. Those few who stood behind Ireland have to make a case. His record is definitely not something they can promote so they take the next best thing which is/was his corporate 'enemy': Dawn Aponte.

I have yet to hear from the Dolphins that the 'secret' structure is set up to make her the Saint of the Dolphins with allmighty powers.

It is so bad that even Barry Jackson's comments about the search for a team player is being degraded into something horrible. Your GM has to be a team player. A GM has to work with the coaching staff and with the capologists. There is no way around it. That does not diminish the authority of a GM. The best GMs in the business are known to be people persons and team players. But we can always go back to a non-teamplayer like Ireland who trashes his coach in front of other people and then whines when word gets back to the coach he back stabbed. Or a GM (Ireland) who calls a fan an asshole.

It is what it is. Nothing Ross and Co can do about until they hire a new GM. But I doubt it will be over then.

I think if it's true that a reasonable number of candidates who would otherwise be qualified for and want the job are being dissuaded from taking it by people in the know in the league, there's probably reason to believe that Ross has established something that isn't optimal.

They will take the job on what they are told by Ross in an interview not what the media tells them. These gm jobs are rare and attractive.

By "people in the know in the leauge" I didn't mean the media. I meant trusted colleagues who work in the industry with them.

As all this news and blatant attacks continue to be fired at the Dolphins Organization what do you think is going through the mind of Joe Philbin, Stephen Ross and Dawn Aponte? I mean sure they can dismiss it as "media nonsense" but at the same time they (especially Ross) has to be sick and tired of being the medias proverbial punching bag..

If I was Ross I say screw it and hire Tom Gamble giving him full authority to do whatever the hell he wants, including chopping Philbin and Aponte.

---------- Post added at 08:55 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:53 PM ----------

Think about it, what the hell has Philbin and Aponte done to merit being defended and protected to the point of missing out on top notch talent? You can spew off all the nonsense you want about how Philbin "Has a plan" and how Aponte is "sooooo good with numbers" but at the end of the day the only plans and numbers that matter are the number of wins at the end of the season...
