Saints released CB Cortland Finnegan.
Finnegan made it 25 days on the Saints' roster. Now 32, Finnegan appeared to have nothing left in five appearances for the Panthers last season. Sep 6 - 4:07 PM
 
I hope he can plug up the middle and stop the run. Bonus if he can do anything else. :-)
 
When you have 1 defensive lineman with 12 tackles
and the other 7 have a combined 11 tackles there's a problem

Agreed. Not going to argue that, but it looked like they had a few over any of our DT not named Sue, too. It kind of reminded me of last year. I think they realized that running Blount outside were some easy yards, so they went with that. Also, for me it starts on the inside. I want a couple of DT's like Timbo and Gardner where there was no way you were running inside.
 
All those easy runs to the outside tells you what you need to know about Misi and Jenkins........they're nothing more than back ups. We need to draft at least one OLB next year if not two. Also, our DE's are older too and all they seem to want to do is rush uphill. With a wide 9 those runs to the outside should not be happening.

Man, this team has so many holes to fill, where do we start?

Oh, and I am not talking about getting rid of Tannenbum. We know that aint gonna happen. He's probably swallowing a load right now.
 
FYI: according to Barry, the guy is going on the practice squad.

I'm not a fan and I haven't seen it's benefit yet. The 3rd qtr TD by Blount was an off tackle power run right into the face of the wide 9. TE got an easy kick out due to the alignment and the RB followed the backside pulling guard for an easy 9 yard score.

It pays to have 2 big and powerful DTs to neutralize the inside running game. We need DEs who can set the edge now. When we have guys who only weigh 260-265 (Wake, Branch and Fede) at DE it makes it harder to be strong on the edges vs. running game.
