Les Brown hints at more two tight end sets in 2012 for the Fins

Two tight end sets are great if it's to leverage a strength. If they are used to cover up line weakness, that my friends would be something else. Clay shows the ability to get down field. Fasano needs to be able to do it more than every three games. Too inconsistent in the passing game. We greatly need more out of the TE position.

Fasano is one of the better all around TEs in the league. He wasn't used more because Colombo was so God awful that they had him blocking most of the time. Fasano is the ideal TE to pair with a seam threat TE because he can block well and receive effectively.

When we had David Martin and Fasano playing Martin was the guy that was more of a downfield threat in the passing game with Fasano more the inline blocker and it worked well. Fasano had 7 TDs that year and Martin I think had 5...I can see it working with Clay and Fasano.

Will Yeatman will get alot of looksies in Preseason.

looking at the girl in your sig... now that's a tight end!!!

Tony Gonzalez was a starting power forward for USC. Basketball players who can catch translate well to the NFL. Les Brown can catch and run good routes.
His limitations will be blocking and potential injuries after not having played for so long.

Tony Gonzalez played at California where he played both football and basketball. Antonio gates was recruited by Tom Izzo and Nick Saban at Mich St. Both of these guys were much better high school football players than Brown and definately better college basketball players but anything is possible. I just wish people would quit bringing up these guys when they speak of Brown just because they played basketball also. Gates would have played football at Mich St but Saban wanted only football so he transferred.

While I'm all for improving our TE's, as I don't think they currently are very good, the basketball player to TE formula doesn't always work. And the cases that usually do, were from division I basketball teams. This guy played a little in a much lower college level for a short time period. Doesn't mean it will or won't work, just very concerning that we are so desperate that we have to make this much of a reach.

Per my previous post, the only question is who the Draft pick is.

If Fleener is on the board @ 42 its a no brainer. I'm warming to DeAngelo Peterson in the 4th or 5th.

Division 1 or not, the concept is the same. Basketball players are usually tall, athletic guys with good hands and other than Clay, our TEs are big slow guys with questionable hands.
also, I'm not sure why he chose such a small school to play basketball when he could played football at places like Oregon or BYU but it doesn't really matter now.
He's 6-4, 240 and runs a 4.4 with a sprained ankle, why not sign him?

Will Yeatman is a freak of nature. He has hands almost 12 inches across. He needs experience.

Les Brown will make the team partly on special teams.

C Clay is fast for a FB but is a bit small for a full time TE.
