Les Brown the most pathetic blocker of all time.

it takes a whole lot more than just speed and combine workout #'s to play football...those things get you in the door obviously but if you can't play football they don't got the time to teach you how to play unless you show them some serious upside and prove a pretty quick study at least in camp...

there's a lot of guys with track skills...we need football players...les brown is awfully damn raw at least from the looks we got...if its me right now off what i have seen its either p squad or cut...i wouldn't fret someone poaching him off my p squad yet

I'm not sure the Brown kid has a future in this league, but I know it's too early to throw in the towel on Clyde Gates. One of the main points I always tried to make about Gates since the moment he was drafted was that they have to give him 3 years.

It sounds cliche, but this kid really needs that amount of time to learn the intracacies of the WR position, and it'll pay off once he does.

Right now his career is tracking just about the same as Miles Austin's did in Dallas... start off returning kicks for the most part and showing little more than flashes as a receiver. It took Miles Austin 4 years of developing before he became a quality receiver.

Hell, I remember when the Jets drafted Tony Martin out of Mesa St. in the 5th round in '89 and he didn't even make it out of camp. Miami picked him up off waivers and he didn't do anything for 4 years. He went to San Diego and immediately became the best deep threat in the league for the remainder of his career... including another 1,000 yard stint with Miami towards the end.

The point is, Miami has nothing at the receiver position to begin with that's so valuable as to not allow Gates to continue getting the time he needs. They'll keep this kid if they have their wits about 'em.

i don't want to give up on gates yet either but i think he's walking a tight rope...pruitt is said to be the best specials player of the group so they'll definitely keep one guy for that...ochos #1 on the depth chart unless he acts up i can't see them cutting him anymore...they love naanee which has me scratching my head...bess is a lock they say he's the best looking guy at the position period in camp...hartline doesn't even have to run routes and he's still in the 2 deep...

have to think they will comb peoples cuts at the position given they brought in edwards for a sniff...gates has also lost his starting kick returner job it appears...roberto wallace who knows
