I agree with a lot of the posters here that OV just isn't worth the price he will command this coming offseason. To me the numbers he pust up never come in games or moments in games where they really matter or make a difference. Granted he has had a couple sacks taken away cause of boneheaded plays by our secondary, I.e. Jamar Taylor. Hes just not worth 8 million or possibly even more!

Nowadays it seems as thought these hybrid, tall basketball/ football players are all over the place. Athletic edge rushers are all over the place especially in the first round. So save the money and look to the draft.

Now, with that money saved sign Pot Roast and once Trevathan sees who will be playing in front of him it could possibly lure him in. Plus he and pot roast played together in Denver. In this scenario resigning Shelby is also a must.

First round of the draft go BPA between DE & CB. Then see how the draft plays out for our second pick. I wouldn't hate getting an explosive DE first unless Hargreaves or Ramsey are there. From what's been posted most likely Ramsey won't be. Also, I want to see lippet given a chance as our #1 I think the kid can play. Move grimes to #2. He'll probably be top flight in the league in that role.

For Millers contract I think 5 years 27 million with 15 guranteed is pretty fair. Trevathan should be getting around 35 million that might be too high though. Don't really have a good idea of his market value. But I think with a few restructures (tanne, suh, wake, grimes) and the salary cap incrementally going up year by year it can happen.

In this scenario we would have a lot more flexibility after the first to rounds of the draft to go BPA more often. Curious as to what u guys think and if this is even finacially feasible.

Cut Wake not worth 8 million. Sign Vernon and Mario Williams when cut.

Cameron Wake is already 34 and coming off a torn Achilles that ended his 2015 season. Your body doesn't recover as fast when your up in age. OV is young and just entering his prime. He was also born in Miami and chose to play for the Hurricanes, just like Lamar Miller. A contract that pays him 10 million a year should be reasonable for him. To play for the hometown team you grew up watching should be an enticing offer to stay. If Mario Williams gets cut Miami should be on the top of the list. Williams will line up next to Suh creating a mismatch nightmare for every team we play against. Williams is also 31 and can be an impact for a few years. Look at the impact age 35 Julius Peppers with 10.5 sacks, 35 Dwight Freeny with 8 sacks, and 33 DeMarcus Ware with 7.5 sacks. Then in the draft we can select Myles Jack if he is still there or trade down a few spots and pick up MLB Reggie Ragland. In the second we select the best CB prospect or the best O-linemen. There is a saying offense wins games but defense wins championships. I don't know about all Dolphin fans but I want to win a Superbowl before I die, it's on my bucket list.

There is no chance we sign Olivier Vernon to 10 million a year. Absolutely zero chance.

He could care less about what town he has lived in, what college he went to, or playing for the Miami Dolphins. He is going to break the bank.

Try 15M a year. If we are lucky.

He isn't worth 15M a year, maybe 12M at the most.

You kind of made a good case for keeping Wake :idk:

You say how wake is used up and what not, not worth his contract then go on to list other old players who had success and want to sign another older guy. Wake is a team guy and said he will restructure (maybe even take a pay cut) to stay here. You don't cut the guy. He takes impeccable care of his body, which is why I'm not so gung-ho on him being over the hill. As a complete, 3 down player though? No thanks

OV is a decent player but not nearly worth what he will get. I don't want to lose him, but it's not the end of the world. He's inconsistent a lot.

I agree with you. But no way Miami signs him to a 10-12M/yr contract.

If Miami lets him walk our defense has regressed once again.

Cut Wake because he is too old. Sign Mario because look at older guys and how well they've performed. Gotcha.

Vernon is likely fetching a $13-15M aav deal. If you're not willing to go that high, then what is your plan?

No. Nowhere did I give any inclination of signing mario Williams lol

I'd keep Vernon but not for over 10 million. I like him a lot but don't feel he is a truly elite player. He has great games then games where he doesn't do squat.. He just seems to be getting really overrated in a contract year. I question whether his preformance takes a dump next season, when he's not playing for a paycheck.

I would absolutely restructure Wake, resign Shelby for a team friendly deal. And see what's out there after that from there- be in free agency or draft. OV has said he's going to the highest bidder and I just don't know if we should be the ones to give him a boatload of cash

Hit negotiations with Vernon at 8M a year. See how he responds, If he says 13M come down to 10.5M. You have to sell him on no state income tax and the fact is Miami is trying to build a Superbowl team. All players want a ring on their finger.

8 mil a year offer will get the dolphins a do not contact order as he walks out the door laughing. The backup thats had 16 sacks in the last 3 years combined got something like 9.3 a year from philly. Vernon is getting at min 12 a year. Is he worth that? No he's not well atleast he hasnt shown it however if miami comes at him with anything lower then 10.5 a year he'll be laughing all the way to the bank in whatever city he signs with. Screw vernon though, he already said he wouldnt give a hometown discount to us. Not sold on giving a guy 10 million who has had a half season of dominating in a contract year. He's been very inconsistent most of his career and paying him anywhere near that rubs me the wrong way. Rather give that money to miller and slightly reduce wake but still keep him. Rather pay guys that want to be here, not ones that decide to play 8 games before he gets a new contract

Every team is trying to build a Super Bowl contender. Kinda the whole point of the offseason.

You say OV isn't worth 12M a year, but he will get over 15M. Do you sign him at that, or no? 8M is a joke, man.
