I agree with a lot of the posters here that OV just isn't worth the price he will command this coming offseason. To me the numbers he pust up never come in games or moments in games where they really matter or make a difference. Granted he has had a couple sacks taken away cause of boneheaded plays by our secondary, I.e. Jamar Taylor. Hes just not worth 8 million or possibly even more!
Nowadays it seems as thought these hybrid, tall basketball/ football players are all over the place. Athletic edge rushers are all over the place especially in the first round. So save the money and look to the draft.
Now, with that money saved sign Pot Roast and once Trevathan sees who will be playing in front of him it could possibly lure him in. Plus he and pot roast played together in Denver. In this scenario resigning Shelby is also a must.
First round of the draft go BPA between DE & CB. Then see how the draft plays out for our second pick. I wouldn't hate getting an explosive DE first unless Hargreaves or Ramsey are there. From what's been posted most likely Ramsey won't be. Also, I want to see lippet given a chance as our #1 I think the kid can play. Move grimes to #2. He'll probably be top flight in the league in that role.
For Millers contract I think 5 years 27 million with 15 guranteed is pretty fair. Trevathan should be getting around 35 million that might be too high though. Don't really have a good idea of his market value. But I think with a few restructures (tanne, suh, wake, grimes) and the salary cap incrementally going up year by year it can happen.
In this scenario we would have a lot more flexibility after the first to rounds of the draft to go BPA more often. Curious as to what u guys think and if this is even finacially feasible.
