Now that KC got a #1 and two #3's

We should be able to get a second and a fourth.

Time for Philly,Jax & SD to pony up.

I know many of you don't want to see him go. Neither do I but when we will be serious competitiors with the AFC(3 years) he will have little if anything left. If we can trade him for possibly 2 starters that is a move the TEAM has to make. He will be hard to replace but he will have to be replaced in 2-3 years either way.

how many have these posts have there been? and still, no-one is going to give up a 2nd and 4th for someone with 1-2 yrs left in the league!!

I think JT has at least 2 years left if not 3. If he goes to a 3-4 oriented team where he doesnt have his hand on the ground every play that will extend his career. The fact that these picks are getting so overvalued is really disturbing. There are no guarantees that they will make it, and even if JT only has 2 years you know he will be a good player for you during that time. I definitely think we could get a 2 and a 4. JAX needs him, I liev here and everyone here wants to give those picks for him.

any serious superbowl contender would do it i think. hell, if i was jax i would.

You're right I don't know what's so hard to understand about that. JT is already persuing other interest. He's thinking about life after football. If we know that so do his suiters!!!

If its a condender and and a 2nd and 4th stand in the way of JT pushing the team over the top to make a superbowl run, absolutely will they give up a 2nd and 4th for only a couple more years. Besides, IMO he has more than just 2 years left. Bruce Smith played till he was 40, Reggie White played till he was 39. Taylor is in better shape than both those two guys at the same age...to say he only has 1 or 2 years is vastly premature

if we can't package him in a draft day deal or get that 2nd and 4th by the draft, i say wait until the season gets going, that is if trading him is what the FO intends to do. once the season gets going and teams know where they stand, players that didn't pan out or got injured, JT all of a sudden becomes that much more valuable. we've all seen what teams give away mid season when they think they are that close to making it. if we don't get what we want him, wait - then we will.

his reasons for quitting wouldnt be physical tho - they would be motivational and/or career related. he has a taste for tv now after DWTS and i would not be suprised at all to see him hang up his boots for a career in tv. (tiki barber anyone?)

I heard him on Mike & Mike in the morning a few weeks back when he was starting up Dancing with the Stars and he said something like 3-5 years he'd like to play. He's obviously in great shape and he can do it physically, it's just if his heart is still in it at that point... I have to think if he went to a team with a legitimate Super Bowl chance, that his heart would be very much in it.

I love JT, him and Zach were the heart of the team for years... but at this point, I think I'd be happy with just a mid-high 2nd rounder if that's all we could get for him. Let him go get a shot at his ring, and give us 3 2nd round picks... then we could really do some damage and get some young, cheap talent in here to start turning this franchise around.

In that sense noone knows what is in his head. He may just be looking for a career change because he is bored of being on a losing dolphins team and doesnt want to go through a rebuilding project. If he gets traded to a contender his whole philosophy could change if he knows he is 1 or 2 games away from a superbowl

JT's looking at a career change because he's smarter than the average bear (reference for those old enough to remember Yogi Bear). Football chews guys up and spits them out. Taylor's smart enough to understand football won't last forever and he wants to position himself for success after.

However, Jim Brown set the template for how to make that transition. When your heart is no longer in the game and you're preparing for life after football, walk away. Don't drag it on for a couple years...make the decision and cut bait.
