The Miami Dolphins in 2007 finished the season 1-15. Whenever we feel down about a loss this season we must always put that number in to perspective. We had, arguably, the worst season in NFL history, and were one call away from being the first team in NFL HISTORY to finish the season 0-16.
The draft classes under Saban and Cameron have not given us an equal return on talent in comparison to the amount of losses we had to endure over the past 5 years. I can now EASILY understand how a teams like the Bungles and Cardinals sucked for decades at a time.. With that being said we now have much more to be thankful for:
Thankful that we finally have a regime that knows what the word TIGHT END means and knows how to utilize them. (watch Dallas distribute the ball to see where we are headed).
Thankful that this regime is willing to make the required moves to rebuild this team from the inside out. Langford and Merling are going to be the real deal and are a great start to that process.
Thankful that our WR's are judged, not by the name on their jersey but on their ability to catch the ball. Pennington threw behind both Bess and Camarillo and they both figured out how to hang on to the ball.
Thankful that our special teams coverage went from being the worst in the league to a unit that looks hungry and hits hard.
Thankful that we finally have a stopgap QB that can actually make plays. Yes Chad had the jitters today, but I think he performed admirably when the game was on the line. If our luck was just a bit different we could have pulled off this game.
Thankful that the watchful eye of Parcells is overlooking this team. I could see the anger in his face while we were losing. Parcells will do what it takes to make this team respectable again.
Thankful that Ronnie Brown is back. I love his quickness, RW looks old compared to him on the field. I predicted that RW would have an MVP type season, but I think I picked the wrong RB. Ronnie Brown is going to have a monster year.
And finally, thankful that the stench that was Cameron is gone from this team. I like the energy the guys played with. I like the fact that we are stockpiling draft picks. I like the energy special teams played with. I like the direction this team is headed. Yes it will be a struggle, but what more could you ask for after a 1-15 season??
