Let's look at Miami's FA activity for a minute. Most are clammering for Jason Brown, Coles, Harrison, Scott, etc. I feel Miami is just about done already, except for some backup signing on the OL.

Miami has signed 5 guys to key contracts. Of course 3 of them are from Miami's roster in Carey, Crowder, and Bell. The other is Wilson. We earlier signed Wake which most of us agree is a great sign.

That's 5 big signees already and they were actually signed before FA started. So I contend for each of us to be thankful for who we have signed. We have been very active and targeted...more so than any other team at this point. Don't get down because our bubble has busted from alot of movement to no movement. Let's be thankful for the players we already have signed and look forward to the trifecta finishing their 2009 vision through the draft.

I'm not complaining at all...I kind of trust the Trifecta...Go FINS!!!

i think our FO is trying to push into the group of elite teams in terms of handling personnel. look at New England, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis or lately the Giants. they keep their own guys, draft well and bring in a few pieces via FA.

of course, having years of continuity helps. that's something only time will bring.

My eyes are wide open and if we sign Brown they may fall out of my head! I think we've done a great job so far and if there's room for Brown or Coles then all the better. Personally I only want Brown and really couldn't careless about the other FA's because of Browns overall impact for our team.

The thing is, although we signed 5 guys, 3 of them were on the team last year and 1 of them hasnt played a down in the nfl. I agree Wilson is a great signing, but realistically he's the only upgrade over last years team. Now before we even started signing our own guys, we all agreed that with the upcoming schedule, we'd need to upgrade at alot more spots than just FS. Of course there's the draft but we dont have a clue as to how many solid starters we'll get out of it.

With all that said, I'd be alot more comfortable if we could at least upgrade one more position through free agency. It dont think we'll make a push for Brown so I'd go for CB or L.Cole.

ok, what many people dont get is...our schedule this past year was horrible. We played the Rams, Chiefs, Raiders, 49ers, Seahawks. Thats 5 easy wins for us. The bills were easy, Jets werent hard, and the Pats...we beat them cuz we brought out the wildcat and they were totally unprepared for it.

This next year, we have all the hard teams. Look what Baltimore did to us in the 1st round.

This team NEEDS to sign more nice names. I dont care if its Jason Brown, Leigh Bodden, Bart Scott, etc....we NEED more people. At least one more on defense (CB preferrably), and 2 on offense (OL and WR).

so i would say Leigh Bodden for defense.....and Jason Brown, Laverneaus Coles on offense.

therefore our draft becomes much easier. We can focus on pass rushers, which we desperately need.

This front office has so many different qualities that previous ones did not.
Common sense being a big one.
Decisiveness being another.
But to me its the violence of action that they bring that has really helped catapult this team.
They sit down and decide what course they wanna go, without being hasty, they make a desision and then attack.
Our previous fo, wouldve never been like that. They wouldve froze or they wouldve got caught up in bidding wars and completly uncalled for bidding wars at that.

YA! LET'S BE THANKFUL!!! We've bascially blown our entire wad on our own players, and as an end result, have ended up with only 1 new addition. Wow, I'm highly unimpressed!!...

I thought the Phinz were going to be major players in FA this year. I guess I was wrong. Great job guys!!! After making upgrading our OL the biggest off-season priority, thus far you've managed to keep intact the same exact OL you had in 2008!!..:thanks:

Not only that but since Goodman wasn't re-signed we now have a HUGE hole at CB. I know they'll take care of that but just sayin.....

Actually when you get down to it, you could DEFINITELY make a case that we have done the MOST and the BESt regardless if they were on our roster last year... With Suggs, Dansby staying put, Crowder was probably the most attractive guy out there... Scott IMO is just a little risky (per money he is sure to get) considering the talent he has had around him... After Gross signed, Carey was definitely another highly ranked guy, we got him back too... Bell was IMO the best safety out there next to... WILSON... JMO and we got both.

We take a flyer on Wake... Athletic mobile pass rushing LB and yes... ESPN is right we have done the best in FA so far.

Yup. And thats why I want us to at least fill another starting spot through free agency. IMO, the best spot till fill with a vet would be WR as we're already young at that position. I wouldnt mind filling DB through the draft as the whole unit is more experienced making it easier for a rookie to come in and contribute right away.

I do hope we at least sign one more, that being Goodman...as long as it doesn't cost us big money of course. I think he is a good corner...as good as the ones available in FA. It is just a matter of dollars at this point.

Dont get me wrong, I think we've done a great job so far. But I think we need another A+ signing to call it a day and head to the draft.

Hate to burst everyone's bubble, but I'm not impressed thus far...

The Jets just landed Scott, and as far as I know, our chances of landing Brown are slim to none based on the fact that we might not have enough money left to make him an offer anymore...

Those were TWO players that Miami was highly focused on adding, and as of this minute, neither look like a possibility....:foundout:
