Such horrible news.

I'm no doctor but I've read before that around 10% of ALS patients can live longer than 10 years, and of course there is the case of Stephen Hawking who has lived with it for decades. Fingers crossed for him and his family at this awful time.

I may be banged up and tired....But....I'm so ****ing lucky.

I lost my father to this disease in 2000.In the years since than no progress has been made on the disease.He lasted 18 months from when we found out he had it till his death.In that time I have come to realize the last thing in this country we cured was polio and that was a free vaccine.There is no money in a cure but there is plenty in research and drugs to prolong life.Sad what are society has come too Im sure there are plenty of cures for diseases that will never make it to the people who need it.

I totally agree. It seems as though the medical industry is more about profit than actually improving the quality of patient's lives.
