I'm over here now
Whether hes picked 1, 9 or 30, if he is good enough to be our LT for the next 10, why cant we use a 9 on him?

even before the senior bowl, i thought he would be worth it at bc he is a LT. a position of great need for us.

Heres my question, why would he be good at 19 but not 9 if it means we are set at LT for the next 10?

Well none of us is paid to make the decision. But Mueller is and if he thinks he's worth #9 then I trust him because he drafted Walter Jones.

If I'm not mistaken Walter Jones was a #2 or #3 overall pick, that's a lot easier because you pretty much have your pick of the litter.

I think that he is worth the spot depending on who is still available. I really think the talent level drops off pretty quickly after the first 7 or 8 picks. If one of the elite players in the draft slips to us, such as Quinn, Adams or Branch, then I think it would be a mistake to take Brown. However if they are all gone and our only choices are between Brown, Ginn, Okoye and Jarrett then I would definitely go with Brown in that situation.

I think we could trade back to 14-15 and still get him honestly but if push came to shove and Gaines Adams and other "elite" guys are gone yes I would take him at 9

WHAT a choice that would be.....Quinn or Levi

I would go with Brown if he's available at #9, but I'd much rather try to trade down and still get him a little bit later. I'm not sure who we'd trade with, maybe with someone further down that really wants Ginn or Okoye, but if it can be down I'd do it. The only other player I'd rather see drafted at #9 would be Quinn, and that's if (a) he lasts that long, and (b) he lasts that long. I not very big on Quinn, but he has the talent, and Cameron is a good coach (would have been great if the Cowboys didn't steal Garrett from us *shrugs*) so if he's available, get him. If not get Brown.

#6 actually.
Shawn srpings was also taken by seattle in the same draft at #3.

What team is going to be willing to trade with us? If the eliete guys are gone when we pick then why would any team want to trade up to our spot??

If Okoye is there or Peterson falls for instance, or even branch. there are plenty of "elite" players that dont fit our needs that might be there at the number 9 pick.

For instance if quinn falls to number 9 Carolina might overpay to trade with us and get him.

Or if Okoye is there anotehr team might pay to jump the bills and Rams to get him. There is many options that could take place right now.

Obviously the following most likely are gone
Russell, Adams, Anderson, Thomas, CJ

But after those 5 anything could happen.

That would be an amazing scenario if someone like Peterson falls (although with him I don't see the Texans passing on a great RB two years in a row). Personally, I think if someone like Okoye is there we can get a decent trade for him. Same thing with Quinn, but if that happens, it would have to be a great deal for us to actually trade him away, given our QB needs. Who knows, crazy things happen at the draft (remember the Bills drafting the NC State DT last year in the first round, or the Texans passing on Bush for Williams?).

I mean, a franchise Left Tackle. Usually, these are easier to project than the QB position, I really don't want to let another Marcus McNeil get away from us...

You know, after the senior bowl Okoye could be a top 5 pick. People seemed to have been that impressed with him...

This thread is about overpaying for a LT. Picking a guy at #9 when he could easily go late in the 1st is bad drafting.

I don't see Levi Brown being any better then Vernon Carey actually. Brown is probably a guy who will end up as a right tackle in the NFL.
