First off, let me say our young LB core has impressed me. I would like to see Saban utilize Pope. We've seen flashes of brilliance from this guy in the Wanny era, and now in Saban's. He broke up two plays for negative yards by shooting the gap. Anyways, back to my point.

This weekend, I actually hope Thomas doesn't play. Let him fully regain his health, while we have a chance to further gauge our young LB core. What better way than to play the best RB in the game???

This is an excellent oppurtunity for Saban to determine which of these guys fits his system. That has been the point of the entire season hasn't it?

Anyways, I don't think they will dissapoint come Sunday.

Sorry Buddy, Zach is playing this week... And we need him, period!! :fire:

Pope is making a case for playing along side Zach and Channing though..

Zach has to play

we can rotate those guys at OLB, but Zach needs to be there to stop LT, I like the young guys a lot, but Zach is the best MLB in the NFL

If I were coach, I'd put my best guys out there. That's Zach. He's an animal injured or not.

exactly

and if I know what kind of guy Zach is

He is comeing to play

He and Jason have shown leadership and the fact that they know the can still make the playoffs

how bout this for the starting line backers....

Channing Zach Pope

IMO Spragan is good but is good for at least 1 pass intereference(sp?) penalty a game. Let Pope and Spragan rotate but Pope starting the game. this could be a lethal combo, almost as lethal as having two fresh legs on the O side in R&R. :fire: :rofl3:

that doesnt sound bad, i want them both to get playing time, I really dont care who starts Spragan or Pope as long and they both play

Zach or no Zach we're not going to stop LT. We need to do what Jeremiah Trotter says and just find ways to contain him, dont let him break anything big. Hopefully Drew Brees will make some mistakes and throw some bad passes, he's a very accurate QB but not a GREAT decision maker. I know our secondary is garbage but if we can come up with a few picks and capitalize on a mediocre Charger pass-rush and secondary we win this game.....

Our secondary isnt garbage, we played poorly in the beggining due to a new system, and 4 guys who had never started together back their

and you can shut down LT, but only with a great run stopping DT which is Traylor, and a great LB core

Traylor is not healthy so his great running stopping ability is questionable, and a great LB core is far from what we have. I dont even KNOW how you could defend our secondary, but whatever the case may be it is not very good.

I not willing to put Zach back into the mix if he is still injured and take the risk of further injuring himself, and being lost for the season. He is not the young buck he used to be and the body doesn't heal as fast as the mind says.

They need to rotate Spragan and Pope in there on blitzing downs more often. They get more penetration then Zach/Crowder do.

Zach penetrates better on running plays

But Crowder has gotten decent penetration I think

two players are how I can defend our secondary

lance schulters and Sam madison

Also remember Daniels is a rookie

they havnt played all that bad and when they have its usually been due to a lack of pass rush

Crowder and thomas = great LB core

How bout this

Pope Crowder Thomas Spragan

Taylor Traylor/Holiday Carter
