Linehan - Official

oh well, no use crying over spilled milk. Saban has a plan. I'm sure the day he hired Linehan, he had it in the back of his mind that he might lose him one day to a head coaching job and had a plan then.

Boy did I call this back in the middle of the season. I had a post where I said I bet Linehan would end up coaching the Rams next season. So I want my cookie people.

I'm am really getting tired of losing our OC to other teams. It seems whenever we get a competent guy, he's snatched up.
Gailey - 2 seasons - Head coach at some Georgia school
Norv - 2 seasons - Al Davis' franchise of horror
Linehan - 1 season - HC of defensively challenged St. L.

Was kinda glad on Norv leaving; the rest ya i hear ya!

I was glad to see Gailey gone...he was way too conservative and perdictable. I'm only sad to see Linehan gone...

We are nearing greatness because of ONE MAN people - NICK SABAN. I'm not sweating this one itty bit.

Just my take on Gailey -
I think he did more with less than any guy that's ever been here

Norv -
I think Wanny handcuffed him

Linehan -
I'm Glad Saban handcuffed him. But, with the Saban filter being applied, the result was pretty good by the last half of the season.

I guess I don't see the big problem with him leaving. We had a great running game that wasn't utilized very well. A few games come to mind (Atlanta) where we threw the ball at the end to win it and everyone was pissed off we didnt' run. I also recall Linehan calling a few plays lobbing the ball up to Chambers with the sun in his face to win the game. After the first play crapped out, he called the exact same play again....genius.

I would have preferred he stay to keep some continuity, but he'd just be gone next year regardless and have our team even further entrenched into his style and offense.

Gus is not the long term answer to Miami's problems and Linehan was never going to be here more then 2 years regardless. This was a transition year for players and coaches. We have his system in place, we have his playbook, if we want we can still utilize the fundamentals of the offense and incorporate it into a new offense if need be.

Plus, there's a chance we JUST might actually use McMichael again....

Pittsburgh is the offense I'd like to see in Miami. Solid WR's, VERY good TE's that are actually used in the offense, nice runnning game with two backs and a solid QB that manages the game well. We're just not that far off...

I'd rather lose Linehan this year than next, at least now we have a chance to land somebody that will be here as we make a push towards a title.

Better to happen now than break our continuity next year.

I think its important we find as guy who will probably be here for 3 or 4 years at least.

Its amazing that we lose our OC after a 9-7 season, but New England had to win 3 Superbowls in 4 years before they lost anybody significant.
