Did he say "relative to"?
 not that I heard, but he did say that he wanted teams to HATE playing the Rams. He wanted the Rams to be relentless for 60 minutes of football and so physially tough that teams hate seeing them on their schedule. He also mentioned the "process" of taking the "modern Era" of Rams football an continueing the tradition.. true.. it was like a bad attempt of a Saban interview..

Thats Saban speak allright.Linehan is the first HC to come out of the Saban tree. The whole NFL might be speaking like that in a few years.

the hell with him, you're either with us or against us! Good riddence.

:sidelol: God Help up. The NFL and ESPN will stop carrying press conferences due to boredom if that happens.. Saban says less in a 20-30 minute press conference than any man i've ever heard. I think the press corps leaves the room with notes full of words and quotes, but no real content.. lol.

You sound bitter!! It's not like Saban left, we will be fine no matter who we get. Besides it's a compliment to Sabans ability to add talent in just one season. He will replace Scott with someone as good or better.

yes I am a little bitter because I feel betrayed. I don't think you join a team, impliment your system and then leave the very next year. It's just too soon and sets us back while we find a new OC and learn a new system.

The guy has no shame. "Saban Lite"

I'm proud to have heard that speech (teams to HATE playing us) when it was ORIGINAL - at the kickoff banquet. I was 10 maybe 15 feet from the Nictator. My casual observation of Scott that night was that he is Joe Cool - everyone in suits, he wore a suede jacket. Marty Booker was at my table and we discussed Scott's personality. He said 'yeah, he's one cool dude'. Kind of lives to the beat of his own drum sort. IMHO he may not translate into the best HC because of this. Mike Martz type. Just a thought though.

As an assistant coach trying to crack into a head coaching position, you are expected to accept any offer that comes your way unless you have already been a head coach or you are currently a head coach of a major college program. From Linehan's position, he interviewed with the Rams and Texans just to get experience for next year. The Rams made him the job offer. If he refused it, the likelihood of him getting another head coaching offer from a prime franchise would dwindle to nothing. When you refuse a head coaching job you get the rep for being too ****y and not having proper motivation...you should be willing to take on the challenge of inheriting a poor team and turning it all around.
