Lions DE Smith, Raiders LB Cooper reported missing on a fishing boat

There was a thread just like this yesterday and it disappeared. It probably had to do with some of the replies. One guy said, "I bet there awareness in Madden will go way down."

They found the boat with one of the missing people clinging to it today. It was a friend of one of the players...the other three are still missing. Its a miracle they found that guy alive...lets pray for another one in them finding the other three wherever they are.

It does not look good for the other three. I hope they turn up. Going out 30+ miles off shore in an open center council 21' boat is not really all that smart. That is on the small side to go out that far. I feel for those guys and their families but damn what the heck were they thinking???????

They're deader than disco suffice to say. It's sad but true.

...and there was another douchebag comment that was deleted, "At least they aren't good football players."

Pretty ignorant and tasteless stuff...

Guilty as charged. I thought it would be funny in an offensive kind of way same with the Madden comment. It obviously wasn't taken that way.

What about 'They're deader than disco'? Slightly insensitive use of wording?

Looks grim for sure. lets hope theyre floating around somewhere out there with life jackets. Sad story.

New news. They had on their life jackets so they are probably still alive. Hard to find them in all that ocean though. I hope they at least caught some fish.

Im sure the water is pretty cold right now. Even with lifejackets its not looking pretty. Prayers are with them and their family.

To the guy that neg repped me and said this, "Yea, let's joke about death." You really need to look at this situation objectively. These guys did this to themselves. They knew the weather. They knew the boat was too small but they went anyway. So yes I will make jokes.

So its ok to make fun of the troops who sign up to go to the Army, Navy, Marines, ect.? They know theres chances of them not returning home, they know that theres a chance of death...does any one joke about that? No, its wrong, these are humans that did nothing wrong and a freak accident may have taken theyre lives. I understand it was not smart to go out in those conditions but have some respect. These are sons, fathers, husbands, ect.

No doubt. How about for now on, we start checking the obituaries. We'll make some jokes about TST's folks when they die. I mean in the end, they'll probably do it to themselves too, right? Heart attack...? Well, they didn't diet and exercise properly. Hit by car...? Well, they shouldn't have been out in the street. Should be a fun funeral, though. With TST making lots of jokes about it and all.

You're comparing four people who decided to go fishing in BAD weather in a TINY boat to soldiers who are giving their lives for this country? Does that argument even make sense? They even said it themselves before they left. They are going fishing in BAD weather because they can catch more fish. They said that themselves. And we're supposed to feel sorry for them? I am sure these two millionaire NFL players can afford to charter a vessel of adequate size instead of trying to wing it with a woefully undersized boat. It's their fault and I will continue to laugh. Neg rep all you want if it makes you feel better because in actuality it doesn't make a bit of difference.

Are we supposed to feel sorry for the guy that died because he measured his bungie cord wrong by not accounting for the fact it stretches so when he jumped and it stretched he died? http://darwinawards.com/darwin/darwin1997-05.html

I don't feel sorry for morons who kill themselves because they don't think before they act. Logic is your friend.

I assume you guys dislike the Darwin Awards too? http://www.darwinawards.com/
