I didn't even know that was a rule. Offenses do it all the time in their own endzone to take the safety rather than a defensive touchdown. Not sure why this would be disallowed.
Seems like a obscure rule that nobody even knows about. I remember the Dolphins getting burned by it up in Foxboro 2 years ago. No Lion player was going to recover the ball so to me this was a good non-call. Why penalize Seattle player for not knowing rule when it didn't effect the out come. If there was a scramble for the ball and each team had an equal chance and he batted I could see a penalty. But that was not the case. Detroit just blew this game and have no one to blame but themselves. Instead of talking about the incredible play that Chancellor made we have to listen to this. That was the defensive play of the year so far IMO
