NFL.com's Albert Breer reports the Lions offered free agent Ndamukong Suh $17 million per year, and $58 million guaranteed.

They're numbers confirmed by ESPN, with the Lions' official in-house reporter seeming to take them as fact, as well. Suh's reported Dolphins deal is for $19 million per year, and includes $60 million guaranteed. The offers are close enough that it can be taken as a sign that Suh really wanted to get out of Detroit.

In that respect, we didn't overpay as many are claiming. We did what it took to land the big fish. Also shows that Suh wanted out of Detroit and wanted to be here (which is very exciting).

Everyones looking at the final numbers which is freaking people out, If you look at the yearly rate with guaranteed money it looks about the going price for his services.

Pay the man! If we drafted him none of us would care how much Ross pays to retain him. Go PHINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

please expand on your statement.............

60 million in first 3 years

Who wouldn't?

It doesn't sound like much more, but factor in the tax savings, and it is a lot more money than he would've gotten in Detroit.

I don't think Suh got the Lions into the playoffs last year their only year to make it while he was there. We were beating the Lions until Stafford moved the ball and scored giving them a 4 pt lead with less than 3 minutes left. So the point is, Suh isn't going to solve our problem of moving the ball to win games in the final drive and I'm not sure he would have made a difference on this drive. There is a pretty big lack of balance with this team for contracts and the play calling.

So since players are not allowed to sign until Tuesday at 4:00 PM...what's to prevent the Lions or some other team from making a bigger offer, or matching the offer from Miami?
