What are we doing with soooo many DBs if Delmas comes back? IMO Lippett at CB is a smokescreen and we are looking to trade Matthews for either OG or MLB talent.

We have 4 WRs who are locks to make the roster; Stills, Jennings, Landry & Parker. Then we have Matthews who believes he is better than a 5th WR, Hazel and a few promising PS guys.

At CB we have Grimes, Taylor and both McCains locked in on roster spots. Then we have journey man Zack something; who had a solid season last year, Davis who is a preseason teaser every year and Lippet fighting for what is likely one roster spot. Then at S, we have a plethora of something like 7 guys, with only Reshad Jones guaranteed a roster spot and Walt Aikens who can also play CB.

IMO if Delmas starts; Michael Thomas could get cut (I know, I like him too) or Aikens; a Hickey 2014 5th rd pick, could get moved back to CB. Behind Jones at SS we have the other Jones, long time special teams ace, we even brought back once after the Pats stole him from us, Kovaks and this years 5th round pick, Thompson.

IMO, there's no room for Lippet at DB. If we can't trade Matthews, expect him to be cut and Lippet taking his place at WR.

I saw the thread title and i was like those guys have no relation

I don't think we want lippet at WR we drafted him to be DB. You can never have enough. If Mathews gets cut or traded in comes Matt Hazek

I don't think we have more db's than we did last year at this time or that most teams currently have. Of course some will be cut, that's what training camp is for. Miami currently has 16 db's and had 15 last year at this time.

I know, I just happen to think it will be Matthews at WR, who will get cut and that all the Lippet at CB talk is a smokescreen hoping someone will offer something for Matthews.

IDK, that's just me.

No way Michael Thomas gets cut. He's a versatile DB and a good special teamer as well.

That's what I'm talking about, we just happen to have a bunch of guys and IMO Lippet at CB is bs. He's a WR, through and through. I don't think Thomas is getting cut, but Matthews.

Don't see the point of a smoke screen. What would be gained by having Lippet practice at db so he can change positions later? It wouldn't increase Mathews trade value and it wouldn't help with how future opponents prepare for Miami.

Thomas is a safety so I'm not sure how his making the roster would impact Lippet one way or the other.

It would help make teams think we are retaining Matthews and try and pry something when in reality, if he's not traded, he'll be cut. Thomas is involved because some CBs and safeties can switch between one position and the other. Such as Walt Aikens. Do I need to explain this using apples and oranges?

I just think Aikens is the only corner that can also play safety and he's a long shot at this point to make the roster. I think Lippet is on course to spend a year on the practice squad, or get placed on IR with a non-existing injury, to give him a year to make the transition to corner. I'm not saying Matthews is a lock and won't be cut or traded, I just don't think it's a smokescreen so teams can place more value on him. I could be wrong, but I just don't see it the same way you do.

The most we could dream to get is a 7th for matthews. Why would we hide lippetts true position throughout this offseason for a 7th round pick? He's a roomie, he needs all the practice he can get at the position he'll be playing

I think Delmas stays this year, and I'm sure Michael Thomas stays. Aikens is on the bubble. Bobby McCain will make the team, the other McCain is on the bubble. Jamar Taylor is making the team, but Will Davis is on the bubble. Remember, we lost 2 major contributors at CB, so we have 2 more spots. I think Lippett will be given a chance to make the roster, but ultimately looks destined for the practice squad. The problem I see with him is that he looks like a press man corner, and we play off man. So, either he doesn't fit, or he looks good and a press man team grabs him off of our practice squad.

So, at Safety it's Jones, Delmas and Thomas ... with Aikens on the bubble. At Corner it's Grimes, Taylor and Bobby McCain, with the other McCain and Davis on the bubble. So that's 6 locks (Jones, Delmas, Thomas, Grimes, Taylor and Bobby McCain) and depending on how many DB's we carry, several more spots open for Davis, McCain, Aikens, Lippett and any late cut additions. The guys with the safety versatility, like Aikens have the upper hand. Lippett looks like a practice squad guy we need to develop.

At WR, we know Parker, Landry, Stills and Jennings are locks. Matthews looks like our best bet for the 5th spot.

If Arthur Lynch is healthy, I think the TE battle will be very interesting.

More so than a 7th, I'd say the hope of packaging him for talent at OG/MLB that might be in a similar situation in his current team. Plan for Lippet might be two way back up plus special teams all along and no one true position, IDK.

I think we would rather keep all our draft picks in the 53, considering we traded out of the 6-7th rounds and we are talking about 4 5th round rookies. IMO, we would like to keep 'em all.

We have a ton of young, talented players. We're finally building a team the right way.

The only roster locks at DB are Brent Grimes, Brice McCain, Teshad Jones & Louis Delmas.

Everyone else is fighting for a spot.
