It was reported a few days ago that the Panthers were going to bring in TE Jeremy Shockey for a visit yesterday, a physical actually. I assume its only preliminary and no contract offer is eminent. I think its safe to say the Panthers will be doing nothing contractually until the CBA is completed

Contract negotiations are tricky, but given CatScratchReaders.com report & Drew announcing a second meeting between Shocky & the Fins, I would say there is a real good chance the Fins hook themselves a Shokey before the NFL lockout . Drew did say other teams were interested & that they wanted to remain undiclosed, but no reports of him meeting with those teams at any time came out of Drew's mouth, Like someone reported. Profootballtalk.com reported Shockey was set on signing before the NFL Lockout, so I would expect he names his next team by tomorrow.
 
I expect that Miami is where his heart is and Carolina is where the money is.
 
I'm pro Shockey.Him and Fasano together in double te sets makes my mouth water.
 
If you take away his name. the U bias. and make him player X and just look at his production.....combined with a punk attitude

Player X = past his prime, injury prone, and unproductive

He's still an upgrade and he fills a hole temporarily so we can fill other needs on offense mainly QB & O-line.
 
I won't be upset if we sign him, but if he keeps us from drafting someone like Virgil Green or Lance Kendricks I will be upset.
 
I would rather have younger too - anyways Shockey and his agent using the Phins to drive up the price - happens a lot to us lately
 
Umm, No offense, but guys what part of the article did you guys not understand that the Panthers are not willing to spend?
 
the panthers dont strike me as a place willing to spend the big bucks
Also they don't seem any closer than the dolphins to making the big dance..
I think roseyhaus is using them to drive up the price for us.
 
Isn't the rumored offer from Miami 2 years 7.2 million.

I can not for the life of me see Miami moving off that offer if it is indeed correct, no matter what Drew and Shock want.

Still doesn't distort the truth that he is a big name TE from the []_[] who was and still can be productive.
 
Guys. Our ''qb'' couldnt figure out how to make use of one of the most prolific receivers in football. The type of guy who is a no brainer, just throw it up, hit him in stride and he does the rest. What possible difference would Shockey make? Other than another toy he cant figure out. Sure hope we hit gold in the draft. Cause Shockey would be going from Brees to Henne. Yikes!!!!!
