If Nick Saban has a dog at work, you might expect a menacing pit bull trained to attack anyone posing a threat to the secrets of the Miami Dolphins.

After all, the franchise's intense new coach  who unveiled his entire team to the media and public at minicamp last weekend after five months on the job  has quite the reputation for being guarded and intimidating.

Yet that was hardly a watchdog buzzing around Saban's second-floor office late Saturday morning. It was Lizzie, a tan and white boxer serving as a four-legged welcoming committee.

"She's just like a real person," said Saban, beaming, after his wife, Terry, left him the dog he frequently petted in a 20-minute interview. "I babysit Lizzie between practices. She's easy."

Her presence continues a trend for those who have occupied the office since the legendary Don Shula retired following the 1995 season. Jimmy Johnson would sometimes be seen at work cradling his wife's toy Yorkie, Buttercup. Dave Wannstedt had Cookie, a Lhasa apso.

Lizzie adds temporary color to a setting that screams football focus for Saban, who two years ago won a share of the national title at Louisiana State and never had a losing record in 11 seasons as a college head coach.
Other then that, good article about Saban and his life history and some of the team moves.

I was hoping Lizzie would be a hot 18+ year old daughter of Coach Saban.

I was thinking the EXACT same thing.

Reminds me of that jingle,"... 40 Whacks." After a loss, are they for the team or the dog?

Nice read thanks as always for the link Nublar. The part I liked was this. just so it might clear it up more for some people.

Saban has overhauled the defense, installing 3-4 packages that will feature three-time Pro Bowl defensive end Jason Taylor as a hybrid end-linebacker.

Packages not the system.

I'll get back to you on that right before the season starts. I would say 10-6 isn't impossible but right now I'm shooting for 7-9 wins depending on the progress made during the next few months.

o yea one more thing rw mc was signed by detroit and that made laws value go down soo imo i still dont think he is out of the pitcher 4 us to sign him i know he will have to take a big pay cut and right now we show no intrest but imo i think he will come and play one year 4 us to prove he can still play once he sees no intrest from other teams i think he will sign a one year deal with us that is just IMO

Well we're finding out more info about Saban each day now it seems. Last week, that he puts his hand on his butt when he gets really mad and now this. Maybe soon we'll have info about whether or not he uses Viagra or what deoderant he prefers. :goof:

Add: Man, the media is really fishing for a story! Show's how tight lipped he is. Not much else to write about him. hehe.
