Lmao at all the Ireland haters and fisher lovers

Fisher has met Ireland once - at his interview

He's never worked with him before

They could hardly be more different

But apparently Ireland is Fisher's #1 choice for GM (even though Fisher is well aware that Ireland will not be moving)

Hmmm - what to believe......

I unfortunately believe it as well. I wonder where the talks broke down. Was Ireland willing to split power? Was it Ross who shot down that notion? I guess we'll never know.

Really you can't figure it out?

he has only had total control since this offseason. But let's play by your rules.... Let's say that someone takes over the a 1-15 team no named the dolphins. ANd in one offseason turns over about half the outrid roster and assembles a team that not only competes but wins their division then the next three years still fields respectable teams that compete at a talent level with any in the league(colts game, pats, patriots, giants. Jets. Etc.) Now consider that this gm went out and hot the best young wr in the game. ANd managed to trade a 5th round pick and Amaya for a too small not nfl worthy back only to be proven right and witness him.become an allpro and lead the league in yards pre rush. Your telling me that you from an outsiders point of view would say that the problem is the gm with that team?

Okay, how can you play by my rules when your post clearly contradicts itself? You say Ireland has had total control over this franchise since this offseason, but you give him credit for getting "the best young WR in the game" Marshall, who by my calculations has been here since LAST offseason. If you're going to give him credit for a move that took place last offseason, then you have give him some but not all credit for moves that have happened since Parcells has been here in 08. Do you give him credit for Ernest Wilford? How about Marc Colombo? What about the failure to obtain a safety to upgrade that 25th ranked pass defense of ours? How about failing to draft a QB or not giving Paul Soliai a deal, and instead paying him 12 million a season.

Bottom line is for every halfway decent move you can credit Jeff Ireland with, I can counter with another piss poor decision or failure. Oh, and not to mention three consecutive losing seasons consisting of 7-9, 7-9, and 6-10...

If this was any competent franchise outside of the Lions or Bills or some team, he'd be out of here.

But yeah, I concur, great GM there.

AGreed I could have and should have tooken a different route with the narrative of the thread. Admittedly the frustration of my fellow fans opinions hot to me. I just can't understand how they can cone to this opinion. I believe that fin fans think we are still the phins of old. We are not truth is Ireland took over a 1-15 team...one absolutely devoid of any talent. He has helped change the culture around here like it or not. From putrid to average. Yes we bred to take an additional step but we were lead three of those fours years by bill parcels a big name commoditTy that had a tired and old philosophy (sound familar...fisher) he has one offseason under his belt of full control. ANd it was unquestionably the best offseason in years.
7-9, 7-9, and 6-10 are not average. The past two seasons in particular have been absolutely putrid.

So you're content with going from putrid to average? Not me. Why can't we be like the 49ers and Falcons and go from putrid to successful? That's what I want from this team. There's no reason we can't do that.

If Ross and Ireland are such morons and Fisher is so great, why did Fisher even interview with Miami in the first place????

It's ironic that the Fisher lovers do not/cannot see what Fisher saw = That the Dolphin job is a good one and that Ross and Ireland are competent.

If he believed what the Ross/Ireland bashers believe, he would have never even considered the Miami job.

Fisher's pursuit of the Dolphins is in itself clear evidence that this team is not what the bashers perceive it to be.

ADam schefter and Chris mortenson just rreported that fisher was so impressed with ireland that he wants him as his gm.
Fisher loves the incompetent bafoon named Jeff Ireland??? It can't be , I mean according to finheaven he is the worst talent evaluator in the league and Tht Ross is stupid for keepind him around.

I don't know about the worst, I think your kinda exaggerating a bit here...
But take the OL after 4 years of working on it as a priority ? solid ?????

I think we got 2 keepers .... Both 1st picks and Long #1 over all. Don't think you need to be a rocket scientist to make that call. I think anyone in here could have done that.
Free agents or Dallas east, revolving door of acquiring and releasing mediocre low end talent and acquiring again and again.
Inability to sign top talent ..... and lack of signing quality OL DB S when available and then realizing half way through the season the need and having little options left to do anything about it...and that pattern is on a consistent basis......consistently painting himself into a corner....
How lucky were we that Orton deal never came to fruision ?

Ireland may be a good GM but I haven't seen it, so I'm hoping that maybe this year our luck turns and we have a few things that fall unexpectively in place, because I don't have much confidence in Ireland ability anymore and rather hope he has some luck instead............

Do you really believe the story? It is compete spin coming from Fisher's camp to make sure he looks like he is in the best light.

You actually hit the nail on the head! Seriously people Fisher loves Ireland so much he wants him as his GM in STL, but didn't trust him with the power in Miami? Ireland who wouldn't give up the power in Miami will do so to work for Fisher in STL?

Really you can't figure it out?

No I can't. I have my opinions, but this team is in such disarray and so screwed up right about now I'm just as clueless as the next man. For all I know, Ross and Ireland may have been on board with the split but Ireland's 88th cousin twice removed could've stormed in the interview and demanded Ireland keep total control. Nothing surprises me with this team anymore. Especially after you go on a coaching search last year when you ALREADY have a coach in place. Yeah, smooth move Ross. If I were a head coach I'd REALLY want to work under you after pulling a stunt like that. :rolleyes2:

Fisher has known Ireland since he played for the Bears and Ireland was the ball boy

ok well I gave him credit on the Marshall move because at the time it was reported that Marshall was an Ireland.move.. parcells was on his.way out and thia move supposedly irked him. And no I'm not content with 6-10 years but you act as if that is a complete reflection on our gm. ASK YOURSELF THIS: Do I believe this team has the tale t tp compete and win in the nfl. Yes or no. Or is what your really upset about the fact that the talent was never used properly ... Tht we did t get tge ball into bess Marshall and bush hands enough. That we had a fated offensive philosophy that ran entirely too much and was entirlt too conservative? I believe the problem has been and always was schemes and philosophy from a coaching stand point. That's my take.

Losing is a complete reflection of the franchise as a whole. I agreed that Sparano needed to be fired, but Ireland is just as responsible for this mess as Parcells and Sparano are. I find it disturbing that we've drafted OL every year since Ireland has come over yet the OL is always a work in progress. It's also disturbing that we seem to fail year after year in drafting a playmaker. Maybe you'll be content with drafting Reiff, Martin, or DeCastro on the OL but sorry I'm not. It's more of the same.

There are a lot of frustrated people right now. Everyone needs to chill. It depends on your Philosophy on a total control coach. I dont know anyone outside of Belichek that has made that work. I will argue it wasnt working for Shula back in the early 90s anymore either. So if total control was the issue I believe it is for the best. Move on, Ireland is staying, lets find the best coach with a good upside, and most importantly, get a franchise quaterback!!!
