NFL Network's Warren Sapp said at the Combine Monday that Jets OLB Vernon Gholston "doesn't like contact."


Then why play the game ?? LOL
 
lol thats funny...i think he needs more playing time before hes considered a bust tho
 
Maybe he should just be forced to play while wearing a cheerleading outfit...tell him he needs to feel as much emberassment as the Jets organization does for drafting him.
 
I got $20 on Ed. Too much contact involved for Vernon.
 
Well if Warren Sapp says it then it must be true lol. Pretty dumb decision by Vernon Gholston to decide to play defense in a sport where you have to make contact with the other team, and also pretty dumb of him to actually play well at it in College.

Seriously though. The Ted Gin Jr pick isnt horrible. I mean I like him but its where people rate you that you pick. I think we can all sit back now and say that Tom Brady was the best QB of his draft class. But he didnt go until the 6th round. There is no sure thing in the draft. You have to prove yourself at the NFL level no matter who you are.

I'd rather have Dwayne Bowe instead of Ginn as far as WR go but that doesnt mean Ginn was a bad pick (although I do remember him being considered a stretch on draft day). There are other players taken after Ginn that are better but the Dolphins wanted a WR so it came down to a couple of options for them.

And as for Gholston again. It's one season in a season where he clearly wasnt given much of a chance by Mangini. This season will tell us a lot more about him then last season will. Bust or not Gholston never got a chance with Mangini besides garbage time. Even the worst draft picks get a chance on the field. Gholston still has to get his shot and he will.

Except Ginn is a starter and actually making an impact on his team. He had two clutch catches(one was a TD) in Week 17 that gave the Dolphins the Division title and sent the Jets and Patriots home for the playoffs.

It usually takes three years for a WR to blossom, so this could be his breakout year.

Gholston meanwhile just needs to break off sitting on the bench during games.

If the Patriots tagged Cassel for anything other then an isurance policy to protect them at the QB postion, in case Brady isnt ready, they are taking a huge risk. The only way a team trades for Cassel, is if cassel signs a long term contract. I dont see any team that is going to offer the Patriots draft picks, plus give Cassel a garunteed contract, that is big enough to entice him to sign. Why would he sign, when he is going to be garunteed 14.6 millon this year and then enter free agency next season and be able to negotiate on his own terms without having the patriots interfeering. Maybe you think someone is going to adopt that 14.6 million dollar price tag plus give the patriots draft picks for a 1yr deal with Cassel. I dont see it. Good luck with that one.
