To the METS from all reports. Should happen very soon.

Nothing official at all. But I'd rather not see him go to the Mets. Especially not for Diaz or Hernandez. I don't think particularly much of either of them. I'd rather trade Pierre to LA for 2B Delwyn Young and hold onto Lo Duca to teach these new pitchers.

according to reports its for a Mets minor league prospect.

December 4, 2005 -- The Mets are believed to be close to a deal in which they would send a minor-league prospect to the Marlins for catcher Paul Lo Duca, according to a major-league source.
The identity of the Met prospect was not immediately known  but it's hard to envision it being Lastings Milledge, the jewel of their minor-league system.

damn the mets are gonna be good next yr

I wouldn't call Gaby Hernandez a no-name minor leaguer. At least Baseball America doesn't, since they have him as the 3rd best prospect in the system. We now have acquired the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th best in Petit, Hernandez, and Jacobs this offseason.

You guys will love Dukie, though. He's all heart and guts.

I like the way he plays. And the Mets need that!

I liked Jacobs, but he could not hit lefties. If he can start doing that, then he can be a stud.

Petit had a tough time this year, he throws hard but is small (Martinez like)

Hernandez I don't know much about, really never heard of him and I follow the Mets close. He must be a few years away.

They won't be in Vegas unless the status quo changes. Hank Goldberg on Sportsradio 560 WQAM down here reported Friday that Selig will not move them to North Jersey or Las Vegas, citing concerns over gambling and stadium location for Vegas.

But to answer your question, if they do end up moving, it's not too terribly difficult to follow a team outside of your town these days. I won't have local broadcasts, but I'm going to college soon anyway and wouldn't have them when I'm out of town. I love my team, and in a sadistic, masochistic, idiotic way, I'm enjoying doing the research on these new prospects we're bringing in. It's almost a free scouting lesson on what to look for and how to build a team from scratch, and we'll tell in 2 or 3 years if the front office did a very good job or a Kansas City job. I'd still rather win, of course, but unlike most South Florida fans, I'm fiercely loyal to my teams. So yes is the answer.

Really? I thought Petit was kind of huskie and had a body like Kevin Millar. He's listed at 230, so that's not very small. Although D-Willis is listed at 240 so who knows. I've seen the guy pitch once on ESPN and barely remember what he looked like.

Petit is anything but. He's not the tallest guy ever, about 6'0'', but he's listed at 230. The reason why scouts have soured on him lately is that they expected his velocity to improve as he got older, but it stayed in the 88-90 mph range. But hey, Greg Maddux threw too softly and Billy Wagner was too short, and look what happened. The important thing with Yusmeiro is that the results are there, and I'll take that over a 95 mph fastball and nothing else as the centerpiece of a deal.

My bad, I switched Petit and Yumerio, he is the guy with the Martinez build.

Yusmeiro is Petit. His name is Yusmeiro Petit. Oh well, the point is that he's similar in shape I guess to Bartolo Colon but doesn't throw that hard, which is why the scouts are confused. I'm more concerned about wins and ERA as long as he doesn't get too huge.

I think I'll talk after I get all the beers out of my system from today!

Okay Met fans, what the hell was the name of the guy we traded that was smaller frame but threw hard? I'm losing it here!
