2008 Projected Draft Pick (as of 2/3): DE Chris Long.
Things are definitely going to change over the next 14 months, but the three players who are currently worthy of being taken No. 1 overall in the 2009 NFL Draft are Michael Crabtree, Chris Wells and Tim Tebow. Tebow seems like the logical choice because if the Dolphins are drafting first, John Beck obviously didn't work out. But Bill Parcells will be in the second year of his tenure with the Dolphins. He won't be sticking around forever. He wants to win now.
Wells would help the Tuna win now, but adding him to the roster would create a crowded backfield with Ronnie Brown. Enter the athletic, 6-3, 222-pound Crabtree. If you're not familiar with him, he had 125 receptions, 1,861 yards and 21 touchdowns - as a freshman. Oh, and he runs a 4.4 at his size.
I guess if nothing comes together this year.
