watching the game yesterday it was clear that parcells and co. had a clear view of what needed to happen, play a good game but dont play like this was for a playoff spot, we were knocked out last week. When henne did not come in after halftime and the said he had an "eye" injury i just started laughing, if you think he was hurt you are wrong, if we had won the game we would be picking 18th parcells is smart and knows that 6 slots is a big deal come april. also my wife is a optician and said if he really had an eye injury they wouldnt have let him get back out in the sun he may have gotten hit a little but it wasnt bad at all, some people questioning henne's toughness lol it came from up top, parcells made the call that some fans wouldnt like thats why they didnt just sit there players, it might have hurt to lose to the steelers but it was the best thing that could of happened. because parcells sees the "bigger picture" we are picking 12th instead of 18th.

Yeah, ok. Whatever.

I don't know what to believe as far as the Henne injury. Would they take him out after 2 quarters to save a draft spot? I don't think so especially b/c Henne is still only 13 games into his starting career. If he was Manning or some other veteran I'd understand that but obviously that isn't the case.

Agreed.. from what I saw he absolutely did not have an eye injury.. He showed no ill effects whats so ever of having anything wrong with his eye.. Parcells and Sparano knew the chances of us getting into the playoffs after halftime was slim to none as they probably saw how good Houston was playing the rats and made a decision based upon that, so they sat Henne and came up with this "eye" excuse.. In hindsight it was a good decision for draft reasons and to see what we had on our bench.

I was happy with the play of Thigpen, albeit he threw 2 picks, it was his first real action all season, and for only playing with the scout team all year, he came in off the bench, ice cold, and played a faily good quarter.

yeah ok. whatever??? i guess you think parcells and co. have no idea what the draft implications are before the game, come on this is what they do 90 hrs a week. they would never come out and say hey we want to pick 12th instead of 18th so we are going to lose, but there are ways of doing things like fooling people like you into thinking henne has an eye injury or throwing the ball on 2nd down from the 20 when we are in field goal range with 4:00 min left.

i have had an eye injury u cannot be in sunlight, or you must have a patch, which would have been funnier if they show henne with a patch

so you're say the management of an NFL team intentionally tanked a game in which the could win a playoff spot just so they could move up a few positions in the draft? sorry, I think you're the one in make-believe world

they couldnt have won the playoff spot, thats the point. They knew going into the half that Houston would most likely win the game, which they did, so that is why they pulled Henne and tanked the game. I mean did you watch the last 2 Pitt drives? The 2nd to last our defense completely shut down their offense, completely.. then on their last drive, with a QB who had a badly injured throwing arm, they drive right down the field getting chunks of yardage, both running through HUGE holes and passing by a QB witha badly injured throwing arm.. Some might have seen one thing, I saw a team give away the game... The eye injury was absurd and the defense let them drive on us.

Why is tanking this game so far outside the realm of possibilities? You think there is no chance that this was an organizational decision? The shot at the playoffs was remote at best. The hopes of this team going on the road in the playoffs and doing anything look far flung at best. You play the first half with Henne, so he gets meaningful playing time. He sits after the half and you get a chance to see how the pet project looks and minimize any risks to Henne. If he lights it up and pulls out a win you lose some draft position. If he plays decent and you lose the game, better draft position. If you lose either way, better draft position. I don't think it's a stretch to say it was an organizational decision.

Yeah, the defense just let them drive down from the Pitt 2 yard line to inside our own 10.. because this defense is so superior to every offense in the league. Sure.

Just like this crap defense has let offenses drive down the field on them all season.

the texans-pats game was tied at the half and the browns were winning. there was no reason to think it was over. the chances were slim but at that point there was no reason to give up.

I would think a chance at the playoffs is more important than a few draft slots

That being said, everyone knew that once NE would pull its starters in the second half, Houston would most likely win the game. How could you think otherwise?

It's a plausible explanation, especially since the Fins needed 4 things to go our way to get into the playoffs where considering our poor D play, injuries including the heart and soul of our running game, our NT, etc., the chances of another ugly "one and done" loomed menacingly. In hindsight, 12 is a great draft position and any SOS scheduling help we can get is appreciated. Also, going back to one of my recurring contentions, Parcells is no dope and knew the fix was already in again this week for the leagues' favorite storyline, the Jest.
