Hey guys, I'm a UK Phin fan since '86, and was wondering what Americans REALLY think of these Lonon games?

For me personally, it's great I get to see my team in the flesh & I really cannot believe it's a divisional matchup against my most hated Jets (since those Marino v Ken O'Brian shootouts) this time.

BUT, I really don't think there should EVER be a London franchise, or anywhere else outside of the States. The logistics are just crazy and I can't see it being positive for the NFL other than revenue - and let's not kid ourselves, it's all about those Benjamins!

As for this game, I'm praying we turn up as last year it was the game against the Raiders that seemed to turn the season around.

Peace

I am sure phin fans hate losing a home game, for me it's good b/c we don't lose a home game and essentially play 7 road games and 1 neutral site game. I think the NFL should play a SB in London rather than ever putting a franchise there.

I can see an expansion team maybe in Mexico or Canada because logistically it's not a huge difference...still connected to the contiguous 48 states. Outside of that it makes no sense. I think the London games are great for those there but a huge burden on the teams that play there.

we have a Canadian team, they play in Orchard Park:chuckle:

I think the NFL teams who give up a home game to go are suckers and not really focused on winning (Hi, Steve!). It's no coincidence that the Pats have taken advantage of their opponents losing the homefield twice. Each time they were the team with more of an international following and essentially gave themselves two extra home games.

Overall I have mixed feelings about the pursuit of international markets. I think it's a greedy boondoggle by the league with a number of logistical problems, but I do like the idea of sharing this sport we're all crazy about here with the rest of the world.

Well as Miami fan since SB XVII (which I caught quite by accident on our Channel 4 station over here back in Jan 83 when I should have been in bed for school the next day) I am very grateful for these games.. Now..as a family man with 4 kids I cannot afford to get Stateside to watch Miami at home just yet.. when the kids are older and the cash is freed up more.. then yes.. I do hope to make it.. in the meantime these games and watching the NFL product here in London is fantastic and I have been to every game here, Miami or A.N.Other team since 2007 and our 13-10 loss to the Giants.. I am at all 3 games in London this year too!!

I just hope the Dolphins can pull things around this Sunday and put the smack down on the Jets...

There should never be a team here. The logistics dont work, the timezones are a nightmare and the UK doesnt have the fanbase +existing fans wont swap teams. I have a massove post about this somewhere,I will look it out

Only benefit of the game this year is "Breakfast with the Phins". We get the feeling of our West Coast Phins of being able to watch our team play in the morning and then have the rest of the day free to do whatever.

I will wake up, make some homemade waffles, drink a morning libation and watch the game in my boxers.

Between the East coast and West coast there are 4 hours time difference.. between the East Coast and London there are 5 hours difference.. so that is not really an issue .. it would be an issue for West coast teams who essentially lose 9 hours while middle America have 6 or 7 hours.. I don't think that it is honestly that big a deal and the bye week can be worked in - as it has.. to give teams a decent time to get back and re-adjust.. as for the fan base.. I do agree on that.. in part.. lets be honest the NFL product is sold out week by week year on year here in the UK and even with a franchise as a move or a start up I think would put bums on seats.. and I think a new team with all the publicity it would attract would definitely attract new fans.. but you are right as a Miami fan I would not swap but I would probably keep an eye and 'follow' loosely the UK team.. attending games if only to see the NFL product here..

also on the point about West coast teams.. the 49ers played twice here and won twice...Dallas a middle America team played and won here.. the only real teams to maybe have an issue with time zones would be (currently) Seattle, Oakland, San Fran, San Diego, Arizona and Denver (possibly).. but I don't think it is to much for the other 27 teams

There will always be nay sayers.. but I don't think the issues are as great as those aforementioned nay sayers visualize.

I am opposed to a London based NFL team, but wouldn't be surprised if it happens. The NFL is all about revenue enhancement and the next big opportunity is taking the game global. The owners have a rapacious desire to increase their net wealth that will never be quelched. That is why big $ incentives are found for the teams prepared to play in London. I think I heard that Jacksonville wants to play a game there every year. Why? Because of the money. This is a lucrative incentive to try to grow the game globally.

I wonder if there will be more Dolphin fans than Jet fans. I know it's easier to get to Miami from NY than it is from NY to London.

Canada having a team would be difficult for the NFL. Canada is now REALLY strict about allowing people entry with a DUI conviction. So what? 1/4 of the NFL players are screwed? Kidding but you have to go through a process to be allowed entry and it seems it could be quite the headache.
