Reports coming out of the USC and Michigan camps are that top junior tackles, Jake Long and Sam Baker will announce their intentions of staying at their respective schools for their senior seasons at tomorrow's Rose Bowl press conference.

If this is true, a lot of people on this message board will die a little inside.

I don't get why they would come back. This draft isn't particularly strong at tackle. They obviously don't have a shot at being the first T taken with Thomas there, but still I would think they would go early to middle first.

I think its a smart move on their part.

They both know they won't be the #1 OT in the draft so why not stay for their senior year and try to put themself into a position where next year they ARE the #1 OT in the draft.

Higher draft selection = more $$$$, plus they'll continue to learn during their senior season which will only help them in the NFL.

Good move I say.

I guess you don't remember Melvin Bratton.. a top five pick who blew his knee out... or recently Leinart who would of been the first pick in the draft but waited till next year and was picked tenth.... He lost alot...alot... of money.... smart move....

Both of them can't be the #1 OT next year and there is no guarantee that they would get drafted higher. If they wait a year that is a whole year's pay they are missing out on so even if they make more next year than they would this year it may not be more in the long run. And like Pompy said anything can happen like an injury or even some OT no one is talking about yet that may overtake them. If it were a strong OT draft I would understand, but it really isn't.

You make a good point Pompy.

I guess I was just looking at it from a different angle.

Both staying.

Both are smart IMO.

Some people value a college education and the college football experience. Its not all about money and draft position.
