Forget about Long and Gholston especially for the number one overall because if this kid Campbell (6'8" 290Lbs.) slips past 20 or 25 there is no way in the world i wouldnt trade up to get him. He is a freak of nature! he started every game since he was a true freshman at the talent rich University of Miami. We won't have to worry about off the field issues because he has been in south beach for the past 4 years. With all the needs our team has trading up is not the best idea but the Giants showed with their mediocre secondary if you get after the quarterback you can beat anyone. Campbell, Taylor, and Porter coming from the outside... Smells like Brady eating a whole lot of dirt next year.

No thanks, definitely one of the top guys I want to avoid in this draft. Major underachiever with work ethic issues. Wouldn't take him before the 3rd. Physically yes, he's a freak of nature but on the field its a different story.

The only thing freakish about him is how he ran worse than a 5.0 40 with his build.

:yeahthat:

Yeah wonder what happened. Everybody was saying he was gonna be like a top 15 pick last year in this draft....then he has an average year at UM and has a poor combine.
He seems unmotivated or something.
I sure thought back in 2006 that he would be a beast in the NFL.
Too bad he seems to have gotten lazy.

I wouldn't touch him until the 59th pick. I'm very dissapointed in how he has performed on the field not to mention his proday. As much as I love UM I have my doubts about his mental readiness to do what it takes to dominate. Looking like a waste of God given talent to me.

there has been talk about him falling to the 2nd round so Y would we pick him up with the 1st pick in the draft Chris Long and Vernon Gholston are much better

Dude, you obviously don't watch or know anything about Miami or college football b/c Campbell hasn't started since he was a true freshman. He came in skinny as a rail and only burst onto the scene 2 years ago after adding some serious weight. Thomas Carroll (with Javon Nanton as a 3rd down specialist) held down the RDE spot for many years before Campbell was ready. I LOVED Campbell 2 years ago, but this past season he regressed bigtime. He can only blame himself b/c he still has the physical tools. He just seemed to lack interest and didn't have that nonstop motor he showed the previous year.

i didnt say take him with the first overall pick. I hope we trade that pick for more picks. he came in skinny as a rail?? so that would make him what 6 8 and 220? maybe 230? so you are telling me he gained 60 pounds since he came to miami? i find that hard to believe. but i appreciate the criticism. If you know miami football you would know they have a heavy rotation of defensive lineman.(I went to high school with Orien Harris) so i know a little bit more than you think about the U. if he didnt start he has still been playing since a freshman and didnt have to redshirt. And finally the combine is probably the most over rated thing in football right now besides matt ryan (sorry, i had to throw that in) Anybody who has ever played the game knows it dont matter til' you put the pads on!!

Again man, you're digging your own grave with this argument. He did come in at 230 pounds. Check his recruiting profile. He was skinny as a rail. He also DID redshirt in 2004, where he played on the scout team b/c he was too light. As a redshirt freshman he played in all 12 games, but only started the bowl game against LSU.

Speaking of UM players falling in the DRAFT. IMO we rather have Kenny Phillips at SAFETY than ANY other UM PLAYER. Thats the choice at #32 if he's still avaiable? Or OT @ 32

Even bigger reason to skip on Campbell. His play on field is the biggest reason I wouldn't want him. You didn't say take him 1st overall but you did say trade up into the first to get him, that would be a huge mistake. This draft is deep those 2 2nds and 3rd are gonna be very important.

Thing about Campbell is though its all down to his mental state for his under perfoming, which can be worked on and fixed. He has the tools and the talent and IMO a good coach will be able to harness that and get the best out of him.

Im not saying we go after Campbell or that because Chris Long is our guy, but think Campbell will do the business in the NFL.
