Longtime GM? Why no naming of this great GM? I was not thrilled with the signing but at the end of the day he can be cut with no burden on his salary.

He is so confident he has to stay in secrecy.

I am really questioning Philbin now :rolleyes2:

I think he will be alright with the Dolphins. Let everyone underestimate 85. If he doesn't impress, we lose nothing. If he flashes even a fraction of his old self, we will be alright. I just want the season to start already.

Whatever...........the proof will be in the pudding...we needed someone in that WR corp and that was as good a gamble as anything.

If he returns to form we made out.....if he flops he's gone.

Just because one GM wouldn't have signed him doesn't mean it was a bad move. Seeing as how we all have different opinions on everything I'm not sure what the issue is.

shame on miami signing Chad for the vet minimum, incentive written contract. should have traded for him the way the Pats did when they got a steal in Ocho.

I just don't understand why people question his "personality". Sure he does fun and wierdo stuff, but its not like he is getting in trouble b/c of his personality. He is a fun loving guy who is a very good teammate from what I can tell. I would even argue that his personality allow shim to be successful on the football field. Look at last year when he was forced to keep super quite and change himself. Its a VERY good signing with minimal repercussions. It's not like he has some crazy history of being a locker room cancer like Moss.

i wouldn't have touched him either...b/t gms and coaches and players always talk under the premise that no names will be released...it's how you get guys to give their true feelings...instead of just fluff

miami's protected itself with this low contract...not much risk...other than the potential headache that having him on your team can bring...if he makes the roster

We got him for nothing (meaning if he does not work out we can throw him back without costing us a lot of money or a wasted draft pick) and so far for his short tenure he has looked better or as good as we have on the roster. Interesting that a player that Bill B and the Pats gave up big money and draft picks for just last year and was named a All Pro Receiver suddenly this year is deemed by a GM as not worthy of being on any roster of the 32 NFL teams. I know he had a bad year and turned 34 but based on his entire career this is a very good gamble to take by the Dolphins. Lets see if this old acorn has anything left before throwing it in the garbage heap.

b/t i don't know why you guys are so upset that gm said he wouldn't touch him....there's 30 other gms in the league taking out the pats who cut him and no one else decided he was worth it...low contract or not...that's kind of telling if you ask me...

Buddy Nix wouldn't have taken Ochocinco, either, because Nix has a definite philosophy about signing FAs: he doesn't look at older players. That doesn't mean that Ochocinco is a mistake for the Fins since the Bills and Fins are in different situations with
different needs.

The Fins have a new CS who wants a more productive passing offense, and they needed another fast wide-out. As others have said, if Ochocinco doesn't produce, he's gone. Moreover, I fail to see how Ochocinco is any kind of problem since I don't think he's had any off-field issues, and definitely not any locker room problems. He's a show-off on the field. Well, on a diva badness scale of 1-10, with 1 being NOT very bad at all, that makes Ochocinco a 2 or a 3.

Moreover, Ochocinco wants to play in his hometown, and he wants to show the world that last season was an anomaly as he was a square peg trying to fit into a round hole in NE. He's coming into the season with some attitude, and I would NOT be at all surprised to see him shine in Miami. If he fails to produce, well, so what?
