After performing my weekly ritual of checking the TV listings on Thursday I was upset to see that the Dolphins game was not going to be aired on Sunday. Now, living in Central Florida that is not a rare occurrence because the Dolphins are often bumped off air on our local CBS affiliate so they can play a Jaguars game but this time was different. They're not playing the Jaguar game, they are playing New England at Green Bay. That's what they are going to play this Sunday instead of Minnesota at Miami. So being upset I logged on to wkmg.com which is the website for our local CBS affiliate, WKMG Channel 6. I sent an email to the programming department, albeit I was firm and let them know I was not happy but I do not feel I was over the top. When I read the response I was shocked. I intend to send it to her boss, the Dolphins, CBS and maybe even the NFL but I sure as hell wanted to put it up here for you guys to read and see what you think. Any one who lives in this area knows it is tough to be a Dolphins fan if you like watching your team on TV because they feel we'd rather see Tampa Bay or Jacksonville play. Below is my original email and then the response I received. Oh and by the way when you read her response, FOX is not playing the Miami game in this area I already checked.

"I would like an explanation as to why in Central Florida your channel
chooses to show a football game with two out of state teams instead of
the Miami Dolphins game on Sunday. According to Bright House Networks
you will be showing New England at Green Bay instead of Minnesota at
Miami on 11/19. I see no reason for it and yet again as a Miami fan in
Orlando I am being let down by WKMG. I really would like to hear from
you why and I really would like to let you know that you are letting
down a lot of your viewing area again who want to see Miami, a FLORIDA
team instead of two teams that are as far from Florida as you can get. I
only wish the AFC's contract was not with CBS. Thank you!"

"You know John, I'm really getting sick and tired of the Dolphin fans
complaining that we don't air a "Florida" team. I have gone out of my
way to get the Dolphins each and every time it's possible, but do we get
credit for that...no! If you checked your schedule you would see that
the Dolphins are playing on Fox not CBS. It should also be noted that
they are playing on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day and yes we ARE airing it.
So next time you want to complain about being let down by WKMG, check
your schedule to see if the Dolphin are even playing and which network
is has the game, then check to see if the Jags are playing away. (We are
forced by the NLF to carry Jag games when the are away)

It's e-mails like your that make me just hate football season!

Shes right though....Miami's game will be on a Fox network because a NFC team is on the road. CBS cant air that game, so you e-mailed the wrong network. I would be pissy too i think.

The TV contracts state that FOX has the rights to inter-conference games where the AWAY team is a NFC team and CBS will broadcast inter-conference games when the AWAY team is an AFC team....unless they are on NBC or ESPN. What she is saying, albeit poorly and unprofessionally, is that FOX has the TV rights to the game, so your beef should be with the local FOX affiliate.

Thanks KY that makes sense. I am glad though that you see my point that you do not address a viewer that way. Yeah and God forbid the local FOX affiliate show the Dolphins and not the Bucs...you know Orlando thinks this is Tampa Bay.

Actually, I believe that they have aired every possible Dolphins game this year.

I think I'm going to write and tell Tracy it's very appreciated - and hope they continue to do so in the future.

what get's me is the part ...i'm sick of you dolphin fans....sorry we don't like martha stewart..ya deushe

Move to S. Fla., then you won't have this problem. Another option is to spend the $150 bucks and get Sunday ticket.

I don't know how often (or not) the Phins have been aired on Orlando. But she's 100% right this time. CBS can't carry the Minnesota game. It belongs to Fox. And NFL rules generally dictate who the networks show each week.

Ya she didn't have to be so rude. I think she could of handled it better by just saying, "The game this week is being aired by fox not cbs. Sorry for the inconvienance." Or something like that.

yeah, she's probably angry because last season people started egging the tv station because they weren't showing most of the games. the next week the station manager apologized on tv saying they would try to air as many games as possible and to please not egg the station. it was pretty damn funny. although the email wasn't very professional, she's right in that you should have checked the schedule before complaining to the tv station. somone had already mentioned on this site a few days ago that the game would be on fox.

It must get a little frustating when all you get is compaints when you are doing are the best to make sure every possible Dolphins game is shown, though. Maybe she (he?) was just having a bad day - but yeah - should've been handled better.

All that I know is the local CBS station has gone out of their way in the past to try and show Dolphins games, including petitioning the NFL for permission. However, they have been beaten down every time - and have asked fans to complain to the NFL and not to them.
