Definately take the under. Miami's D will play solidly and our O should struggle as well. I don't know if Miai covers the spread..I sure as heck hope they win outright of course...

That might work in this case. But I'll caution you that teasing totals is generally a lousy idea. You have much less value than teasing a side because the totals don't fall nearly as close to the number as sides. There is much greater dispersion. It's not uncommon for both sides to cover an NFL teaser game after game on an NFL Sunday. I deal with sportsbook managers who whine like 2-year-olds when every game on a morning block falls within the teaser bracket. Not a single time have they ever complained about getting beat on total teasers.

Likewise, teasing college games is rank idiocy. The numbers don't fall close enough to the spread to make it worthwhile. Plus there is generally much more scoring in a typical college game than an NFL game, so the 6 or 7 points has less value percentagewise. I'm not thrilled with teasers since it's the old two (or more) variables to produce one payoff gag, but if you're going to do it make sure it's NFL sides. And teasing the dog up, as you suggest in this example, is generally a better idea than teasing the favorite down.

i've never heard of this! how do you score a half point? :)
 
you give a half a point so you dont have to worry about a tie in the game. For instance .. if Denver was favored by three .. that means Miami gets 3 points to start.

So if Denver wins 17 to 14 .. after the points are added ... the score would be 17 to 17
... then to avoid the .. well your team didnt win either ... half points were invented ...

so Miami with the 3 and a half points would win 17 to 17.5. It is just a way to clear up the point scheme when giving points.
