I was just thinking how well our late draft picks have done. Crowder- Awesome; Daniels- Awesome; Alabi- shows signs; Vickerson- looking good.

HOpefully these are signs of future drafts, where we are the one's always getting the gems in latter rounds.

Yes it seems like he had a nice draft but our first and second round picks better step it up. Well not so much Roth he needs to work on technique but Brown might be starting for the first 4 games so he better step it up big time for this team.

well it was ronnies 1st game give him next week and we will see.:)

I agree, Saban seems to have done well in the later rounds, but my final decision on how well he did depends on how Ronnie does.

Roth is still a question mark. But Brown and Crowder can start next week, no problem IMO. i don't know enough of Alabi, and I'd be okay with Vickerson as a backup today. he also has potential to be a starter some day. It's been a while since we've had someone who has some concept of talent. Man, just accents just how bad of a player evaluator Wanny was

:D. Because I work. How's the other steel city these days?

Just for the record, a lot of rookie running backs that I've seen the last few years haven't really come on until the second half of their rookie year. Kevin Jones is a perfect example. If Ronnie stuggles at first, it'll be dissapointing but I won't really be all that discouraged. He displayed his skills against Tampa, it's just a matter of adjusting to the NFL game and learning how to follow blocks and when to cut.

agreed. I'm just looking for 3.5 yards, don't lose the football sort of play for the first couple months. But I hope to see big things after week 8.

Ronnie will be fine...He showed how he can run between the tackles in the TB game...You can't teach that stuff...you either have it or you don't and he has the ability to run in traffic where most of the backs that we've had over the last 15 years would be on the ground if you got a hand on them. As long as Crowder's knees hold up he will be a great player...Those two are bonafide draft day hits as far as I'm concerned...Roth was drafted for his toughness and motor and we've seen that from him already...Daniels is the one I've got my fingers crossed on...He will have plenty of opportunities to prove himself this year.

Daniels may not be a star, but we're still getting good value on the pick at this point.

I know I am making excuses but Ronnie's fumble is just a part of football. He wasn't stripped or lost the ball going through the line - the guy hit his helmet on the ball as Ronnie fell and it popped out. That is part of the game - great play by the defender - Ronnie could've had two hands on the ball going through the line but it atleast wasn't a complete Tiki Barber/Ahman Green fumble.

And for the guy who said he will judge Saban on the success of Ronnie...I don't know if that is fair. Ronnie was really the only choice at that spot. We didn't know Ricky was coming back and RB was a HUGE hole. In hindsight we couldve gone another way - but at the time we needed a QB or RB and Ronnie was the best RB available.
