I was looking at the fins schedule and realized we have no back to back home games...thats a real bummer. I hope this doesnt come into play in the wins or losses.

Stupid London game kills us in that aspect. That means the Fins will be traveling each week, oh well they can handle it. (No disrespect to our Europe fans, it's cool you guys get a game, but it's a disadvantage.)

The way I analyze our schedule is that we can't afford to have another gelling period in the early part of the year. A slow start this year is going to murder our record. We need to start fast and be in a great position to make a playoff push in our difficult 2nd half schedule.

If Miami isn't above .500 before their bye then I don't see them making the playoffs because the second part of their schedule is very difficult.

I agree 100% your right that team needs to gel and get chemistry down fast...hopefully having everybody in training camp may pay off in that aspect.

You know what it doesn't do? It allows no excuses, and it won't hurt anything. Ginn will be signed up by tomorrow and on the field for the first rookie practice along with Beck. 5-3 would be nice but 6-2 is what we should aim for in the first half of the schedule. That way we allow ourselves to play .500 ball during our killer part of the schedule and still make the post season. I think 6-2 is doable, we just can't afford the slipups we seem to have every single year. Don't go and lose games to Oakland, Houston, Cleveland, Washington or the NY Giants. All of those games I consider us the better football team, take care of business there and we need just 1 upset out of 3 games, and we sit at 6-2 heading into a BYE then a homer vs. Buffalo.

one reason I see for the possibility of us starting out fast is the offense will actually have a PRIORITY in training camp this year. They definately wont be treated as the step child this year. It is possible they do start off slow, but it wont be for the same reasons as the last few years.

Well hopefully our strong defense will keep us in games until the offense starts to gel. Hopefully we wont have to score alot of points to win games.

I think we can benefit from Green's familiarity with the system.

Couldn't agree more. Nothing better to get fans excited than an early run. I wouldn't mind old times at all this year. Jump out to a fast 5-2 record then cruise in with a 9-7 record (4-5 down the stretch) to make the playoffs. Fast start means excitement, and that is exactly what this franchise needs right now.

DAMN RIGHT

I don't think that a 9-7 record will be sufficient for a playoff berth. I'm thinking that this team needs at least 10 wins to even have a legitimate chance of securing a postseason spot by the time the calendar flips to 2008.

Right now, we have Beck signed and Ginn is supposed to be close to signing, so my next priority is to hope that they injury bug doesn't hit us in TC, and the O-line really shines against our D in scrimmages.

The Washington game seems a long way away, with many stages in between, we don't even know if Campbell is going to start for them or not.

The Cowboys, Jets and Giants all look tough, and who knows about the 'Skins?

We definitely have to be ATLEAST 5-3 by the bye week to make the playoffs. That second part of the schedule is brutal. Just looking at those final 7 games have me very very worried.

@ Philly
@ Pitt
vs. NYJ
@ Buffalo
vs. Baltimore
@ New England
vs. Cincy

This has the look of an early 2000's Dolphins schedule where we stumbled in on the way home. We may need to go 6-2/7-1 those first 8 games.

I was thinking the same thing. At least during the Decemeber swoon days we got to play in playoff type atmosphere games. If we are still alive on Christmas, that's all I can ask for as a present.

What I like about our schedule is it being consistent. Our players can get into a set travel routine and stay in it.

What I will be looking for is a well coached team this year. I dont think Saban had control of his players last year. If Cam motivates these guys week after week, calls good plays, and gets these guys to execute, then we got a superbowl run. If we bought into another Nick Saban then we got another season like last years.
