I just wanted to look at the possibility of us making the playoffs whether it be by division or wildcard. I know we play in a league where it's "Any Given Sunday" but I thought we'd look at the loss possibilities of the teams in the playoff mix.

Cinci (7-2) and Indy (9-0) are virtual locks for their divisions with Cinci having a joke for a schedule remaining (OAK, CLEV, DET, @MIN, @SD, KC, NYJ).

SD (6-3) and Den (6-3) play each other this weekend so the loser is in the wildcard race. Teams in Bold are potential losses.

SD (6-3) - @DEN, KC, @CLE, @DAL, CIN, @TEN, WASH
DEN (6-3) - SD, NYG, @KC, @INDY, OAK, @PHI, KC

Pitt (6-3) and Balt (5-4) are 2 and 3 games behind so their more likely to be fighting for a wildcard aswell.

PITT (6-3) - @KC, @BALT, OAK, @CLE, GB, BALT, @MIA
BALT (5-4) - INDY, PITT, @GB, DET, CHIC, @PITT, @OAK

Hou (5-4), Ten (3-6) and Jac (5-4) don't have a chance in hell to catch Indy and luckily for us we play these teams so we hold our chances in our own hands.

HOU (5-4) - TEN, INDY, @JAC, SEA, @STL, @MIA, NE
JAC (5-4) - BUF, @SF, HOU, MIA, INDY, @NE, @CLE
TEN (3-6) - @HOU, ARI, @INDY, STL, MIA, SD, @SEA

So that brings us to the AFC East, I don't really consider the Jets in this because we hold such a big advantage over them and losing two games will take us out of the running for a playoff spot anyways and their not going undefeated...

NYJ (4-5) - @NE, CAR, @BUF, @TB, ATL, @INDY, CINCI
NE (6-3) - NYJ, @NO, @MIA, CAR, @BUF, JAC, @HOU

8 out of the 9 teams fighting for the two wildcard spots we play so we really control our own destiny.

After the SD/DEN game either one has atleast 2 losses on their schedule and possibly 3 which helps us out alot since we don't play Den and have lost to SD. I really think we need SD to win this game because I can see Denver choking huge the rest of the way.

Pittsburgh can help us out huge if they can beat Baltimore twice and a possible loss to Indy Baltimore could be right out of it. That would position Pittsburgh to take one of the Wildcard spots.

Hou/Jac/Ten are all on our schedule and we cannot afford to lose anyone of those games. Hou is the biggest game of the three, the other two teams have alot of potential to lose multiple games. They also all have to play each other still so that helps us out a great deal as well but Ten and Jac both have tough finishes to their schedules. It's also a statement game for ourselves to finally get over the hump we seem to have with Houston.

NE needs to lose 1 game outside of our match up for us to have a chance to still win the division. NO and the Jets are the best possibilities for one of those losses. If the Jet's can pull off the win then NE is in a pickle with having NO and then us next, normally the Pat's never lose two in a row but you have to admitt that's a tough stretch of games.

So it really is left to us if we're gonna make the playoffs, if we win out we're in. Even if we lose the NE game or one other we still control our own destiny and one of our toughest games (Pitts) may clinch early and we could have a walk compared to playing a desparate team at the end of the year. I know nothing is a given but I'd much rather control our own destiny then prey for other teams to lose.

One game at a time starting with Carolina, hopefully our coaching staff has seen the mistakes they've made and will correct them to give us the best chance to win each and every game!

I will atleast throw out a homer prediction of this....

Division Winners - Indy, Cinci, SD, Miami
Wildcard Winners - Pitt, NE

I think NE beats the Jets but losses @NO, @Mia and actually losses 1 more game to finish 10-6.

Would be crazy if we end up playing NE for first in a few weeks.

this team can barely finish bad teams & we are talking about beating great teams...

Sorry, I never saw a great team on the schedule please feel free to name these great teams you speak of.

Are you talking about the two undefeated teams that escaped our grasp to sneak away with wins they didn't exactly deserve. Or are you talking about the Pats that was a drive away from being tied after we played poorly most of the game. Or are the Jags, Panthers and Titans now great teams.....please explain because I cannot see your statement as valid or even logical.

Did I mislead you and say that were the greatest team on earth or that we will beat everyone. I thought I wrote that we hold our own destiny and from the season I've watch so far there is no team in this league we can't hang with. And if your close near the end then you have a chance to win, I also happen to believe in this team.

I have no expectations like some of you that now since we're 4-5 and have not lived up to your expectations so you now crap on everything about this team. I know we compete every week, I know we can run the ball, I know Henne has all the tools to win, I know the defense can play, I know we make mistakes, I know need to play better, I know that we have been in every game we've played this year and I know we will be in every game remaining so I have hope we can get on a bit of a run now.

You can cry we didn't beat TB by enough but I rather look at it we found away to overcome our mistakes and win. That is an improvement on some of the other games we lost because of our mistakes and that bodes well for eliminating those mistakes. We have so many young players that each week becomes baby steps and as long as we get up after we fall then I have no complaints, just excitment for the future!

lol, Gotta give the guy credit for atleast having great hopes for us but incase u didnt see the game yesterday we almost lost to an 0-8 team.... Yea we can compete with the best teams but at the end we get our *** kicked, new england kicked our ***, saints kicked our ***, indi kicked out ***. Were a few positions away from being a real good team. Wr, Cb's right of the bat.

I like the positive thinking. I really do but I just looked at our (and only OUR) remaining schedule. We have 7 games left and only three of them are against teams with a losing record: CAR (4-5), BUF (3-6), TEN (3-6).

I am not saying we won't make it but it's gonna be tough. Very tough.
Our running has declined and the passing game hasn't improved. Our defense isn't dominant either. Right now, I just can't see us making the playoffs but I still hope. Maybe the Panthers game will change my mind.

Tampa was 1-7. I know it's a minor detail but it takes away credibility from your post.

the only way i see us going to the playoffs is if we win our divsion but i dont think that is going to happen with the way the pats have been playing they look really good tom brady looks like he did a couple years ago not affraid to step into the throw anymore the pats are going to be a tough team to beat out

Obviously we need a couple of WR's before we can really take this to the next level but CB's? We just spent a 1st and 2nd on corners and so far they both look like they are gonna be real good, so how do you figure that? After WR's I think a NT is our next biggest need followed by a top notch receiving TE. Getting another LB would be nice as well, but now I'm just getting greedy.

Believe me I think every game will be tough for us, we're not built to blow teams away unless they put up a horrible effort like Buffalo. There's not a single team on our schedule that we can't beat just like we can also lose 3/4 more games aswell.

If we lose to Carolina then I think we're done because our window of opportuntiy is almost closed then that's why I stated we take it one game at a time. We're almost in playoff mode right now, if we beat Carolina then we have Buffalo and all of a sudden we're possibly playing for the division lead at home to NE.

It makes this year pretty exciting especially when we all know that we're a few players away from being real good only two years into the rebuild.

We are in every game we play, our biggest issue is not our opponents it is limiting our own mistakes. Yes we are a few players away from being real good but those players have nothing to do with this year. If we catch a couple balls this year we could add two more wins, and that is fixable. Bess and Ginn do not have a history of bad hands and Bess seems to gotten over his little slip ups.

The TB game was close because we fumbled, we threw an interception but we over came that and still won. That's a good thing, that's something to build on for Carolina. If we can force a few mistakes out of Delhomme then we win, they've played better lately only because Delhomme hasn't turned the ball over.

Be as negative as you want but I don't see the point of it, is it so if we lose you can beat your chest and say you were right? That's certainly what it looks like to alot of us!

Miami needs to win Period!!!!!!!! the most important game is buffalo because it's a divisional game which willgive them a better record in the divisional head to head scenario although that might be the 5th tiebreaker, a team with a 8-8 record probaly makes the playoffs.
