I went back and watched all of our games last year to a better idea of what we need to do this offseason.
1. Clemons had a great year IMO. He showed up every game with solid play we should pair him and Jones together for the next 5 years. Give em both solid extensions.
2. Daniel Thomas runs well and with power. I think he wins the job this year and puts up very good numbers. 1200 yds and 12 tds.
3. Tannehill found the mismatches when they were there. We had about ten all season maybe.
4. Im going to miss the size of our departed linebackers. They came to the line, didnt avoid contact, and were pretty solid tacklers. They took some plays off here and there but they were pretty solid in my opinion. Underrated at least.
5. O. Vernon flashed in a few games and I think the experence he gained will allo whim to develop into an 8 sacks pass rusher.
6. Mike Wallace had a good season last year despite the numbers beng down. I was shocked at the amount of plays that he was not the primary receiver. It looked like his role was reduced to get him cheaper in the ofseason. I know that is conspiracy theorist takl, but I cant explain how he became the second and thrid option so many times.
7. I like the Keler signing but Fasano had some big catches for us as well so a little improvement there and I think we are fine.
8. The Oline needs quite a few pieces IMO. That leads us up to the draft.

The draft has only a couple capable guards and the top 2 are pretty stellar. WE need Tackle, Guard, red zone receiving threat and CB. Guard is the only one we will get an average player at if we pass in the first round. So I believe our strategy should be to trade down a few picks and take Cooper. In the seconhttp://www.bleedinggreennation.com/2013/3/25/4144880/joseph-fauria-nfl-draft-scouting-reportd round take a tackle and a CB, and the third take a CB and a S. The UCLA tight end had 12 tds last year and is a huge target.

1. Jonathan Cooper OG North Carolina
2a. Desmond Trufant CB Washington
2b. David Amerson CB North Carolina St
3a. Ryan Swope WR Texas A&M
3b. Brennan Williams RT North Carolina
4. Joseph Fauria TE UCLA

What leads you to believe that Daniel Thomas even makes the final 53 let alone has 1200 yards?

1. Yes
2. No If anyone gets near 1000 rushing yds its more likely to be miller. (If reggie can do it let's hope miller can too)
3. Agree
4. If Dansby played as well as some people here suggest why is he still a FA: answer, he was solid but not great and at the point in his contract where we were overpaying. He is also not in excellent shape and getting to the point age wise where almost all LBs start to decline.
5. Yep hope you are right. OV showed up in a few games for sure
6. People also forget that Wallace he had rusty old backups throwing to him for a good portion of the year and Batch couldn't hit the side of a barn last year.
7. Yup..

The Thomas prediction is more based on feel. Bush obviously wont be here so one either Miller or Thomas will start. Thomas has a lot of quality runs. None are game breakers but he shows good leg drive sometimes and he has some fight in him. I understand he isnt a forum favorite by and stretch of the word, but I think he was just missing experience.

Thomas has issues with holding on to the ball, an inability to be effective in short yard situations and concussion issues. The Dolphins have an unknown quantity in Jonas Grey behind Miller and drafting an RB is very likely. All this adds up to Thomas' days possibly being numbered in Miami.

I guess the Thomas prediction takes away from the main purpose of the thread. We can revisit that after the season.

Probably because that is a very bold prediction.

I think in reality Dansby played well but he is coming off an injury he played with and the NFL has a way of penalizing older players.
Im willing to bet that Ellerbee will never be as good as Danby was in his career no matter how some on this board want to proclaim a guy that couldnt beat out a solid but quite non special Jameel McClain.

As for Wallace, Rotlisberger still started 13 games. I think wallace is quite overrated and overpaid. He was a special receiver up until like game 7 of 2011. Was below average the rest of that season and pretty average most of 2012. I hope he reverts to 2010 form or early 2011 from because what he has done in the last season and a half is nothing special.

I see you're digging in on Ellerbe just like you did when we signed Wake....how'd that "certainty of failure" work out for you LOL? This is despite the fact that Ozzie Newsome, one of the savviest GMs in the league who knows him best was willing to sacrifice the SB hero Bolden to clear enough cap space in order to sign him to be one of the ILB GOATs heir apparent. But you're "willing to bet." LOL

Wallace, even with Leftwich and Batch throwing to him was THE home run "hitting" receiver of 30+ yards overall since he's been in the league (and that's with oft-injured Ben and the scrubs pulling his stats down the last two seasons. In 1927 Babe Ruth got paid more than President Hoover, not for setting the strike out record, but for hitting more home runs than any other batter.

I really tried to read this, but getting past Clemons had a great year was challenging! Then Daniel Thomas getting 1200 yards finished me off I couldn't et past that statement there is a chance Thomas doesn't get 1200 yards in his career.

D. Thomas will play a bigger role in this offense than some may think. Thomas still has something to prove. Its now or never for him. He either puts up this year or he will be gone next.
