Just to let everybody know, I am not going to bash Spielman throughout this thread. I just want to point out the different roster moves Spielman made.
Spielman

AJ Feeley At the time, everybody was ticked off because we could have gotten Brunnell, Ramsey, or Henson (glad we didn't), but also because we gave up a 2nd round pick for a guy who hadn't taken a snap since the 02 season. It's not as much the player as it is the pick that people have problems with.

Marty Booker I like the fact we got Booker, but he was obviously distracted the whole year with his wife and new born in Chicago. He got to play in 2 preseason games with us, but missed all off mini camp and training camp. Toward the end of the season he was playing really well.

Lamar Gordon Spielman panicked here. The chances of an umproven guy coming in a week before our first game, and actually learning the playbook? Atleast Booker got to play in 2 preseason games, Gordon was forced to play for us before he got to practive with the team. Gordon got injured, and probably won't see the field for us.

Reggie Howard Was injured last season, and struggled playing the slot. I won't complain too much about Howard's play as much as I will about his contract.

Jeno James Jeno played well, despite having Seth McKinney on one side, and an injured Damien McIntosh on the other side. Alot of people overlooked his play because of our line's overall play, but it was money well spent.

Damien McIntosh The fact that he was given a big contract before he even passed a physical was embarrassing. We we're stuck with him after that. McIntosh had ankle surgery, and wasn't supposed to start practicing in pads until atleast week 6, but he was forced to start week 3 because of Wade Smith's horrible play. I'm willing to give Big Mac another chance since he'll be healty this year, and will have a chance to participate in the offseason workouts.

John St. Clair He played surprisingly well last year, but he might be cut later on in the summer because of the pickups we made this year.

Chris Atkins Was brought in to be a Special Teams ace, but will probably retire because of his leg injury.

David Boston Spielman took a risk, and unfortunatly, Boston got injured. The one good thing about this trade was Spielman got rid of Fletcher.

Antuan Edwards Maybe it's just me, but I thought Edwards played very well, and was deserving of getting an extension at seasons end. Jim Bates cut him for some reason (probably his love for Arturo).

Bryan Robinson He played well for us, and got a nice contract with the Bengals. Too bad he and Zgonina were alittle undersized to play every down.

Terrence Wilkens It looked like a good signing on paper. He lost his number to Bryan Gilmore in TC, and was cut because of a bad back.

Antonio Freeman ..... He played in a couple preseason games for us, and then lost PT to the WR from Harvard (Morris?)

Sammy Morris Was signed for ST, and to be the backup fullback, but was forced into being the starting RB. Did a decent job.

Brock Forsey He looked great against the Pats for most of the game. Then McKinney missed a block on Traylor, and Forsey didn't play the rest of the season.

Bryan Gilmore The Cards laughed when we claimed this guy off waivers, but I thought he was pretty good for us. I wish we would've used him a bit more, but he did good when he got a chance.

Jamar Martin He became our starting FB when Konrad got hurt. He did a good job plowing people out of the way, but was rarely used. Might not make the team with the addition of Heath Evans.

Wes Welker In alot of people's minds he was our team's MVP. He was the first Fin to return a KO for a TD in a long time.

Lamont Brightful Oh boy, he was our kick returner for 2 games and everybody still hates him. Besided the fact that he dropped the ball even when no one was around him, and he fumbled 6 times in one game, he played well in the 2 games he played for us.

I'm not gonne talk about the two kickers, or the two DTs we picked up at midseason.

Overall, I just think Spielman acted to quickly, and was too worried about this year and not about the next couple of years.

Why cut Edwards, it served no purpose. I am glad Bates is not our coach.

I almost threw a fit when I heard we gave up our 2nd round pick to the Eagles for Feeley....at the time I thought it was one of the dumbest moves Spielman ever made, but had we drafted a guy in the same spot (early 2nd round) he would have been about the same as Feeley....not great, but far from horrible. I think we should see how Feeley and Frerotte do in Nick's system, and if they can't get it done we should take Omar Jacobs from Bowling Green next year (if he comes out). Jacobs is from the Miami area and he can throw and run, great size (6'4"), I think he is right up there with Leinart without all the publicity.

We got CHris Chambers in the 2nd. That is leaps and bounds above Feeley. Sorry, but I'd definetly take our second rounder back over Feeley. But what's done is done.

Two corrections on D. Mac - A large contract was offered, but reworked to vet min + incentives after it was learned about his ankle. Further, he was signed to play RT, and depth at LT. Looks pretty smart in retrospect after Wade Smith crapped out.
