Looking back at the Reggie Bush trade

Reggie Bush = Ricky Watters

End arounds, toss sweeps, etc throw him the ball in space

I gotta admit, after watching Ahmad Bradshaw yesterday and comparing him to Bush...we should have given Bradshaw what he wanted. Bradshaw and Thomas would have been a GREAT duo. Bush was brought here for celebrity status...he hasnt really done much else.

Then again, I think Ingram and Mallett would have been even better lol.

Another B Class celebrity bought to the Dolphins to "add" to the team.

1. kickoff returns
2. punt returns
3. speed plays outside the tackles... pitch, reverse, swing pass, toss
4. as a WR... slot, twins, trips, 5wr sets... don't care. the name of the game is speed and open space...

**** i need a drink.

Has Bush even lined up as WR.. or moved into motion.

How about putting Daniel and Bush on the field same time..

You guys are caught up in superfluous details. Fine, don't think of it as a Reggie Bush "trade" if you don't want to. Think of it as a Reggie Bush "signing" for $5 million a year that somehow also involved us giving up a key special teamer and a 6th round pick.

And no, it hasn't been worth it, at all. The Saints are laughing about all this because they know they moved from Reggie Bush to Darren Sproles and got an UPGRADE.

okay but CK... wouldn't you agree that there isn't another FO in football who could find a way to get reggie bush for a special teamer and not have it turn out in an upgrade??

we've all seen reggie, he could be a TD machine when used properly. last I checked 6th round picks and Key ST'ers did not put points on the board.
reggie could put points on the board, if used in a manner other than between the guard and center... did they not learn from his td where he hit the outside and beat the defender to the pylon (week 1 or 2, can't remember).....

unheard of!!!! how did you come up with such an idea on your own? this is the work of a football genious.

Hi guys,

I'm actually the author of the article that this thread is centered around and I wanted to clear up something. In NO way was I trying to insinuate that the Dolphins got a steal or were trying to take Bush from the Saints or anything like that. Essentially, the article is more a jab at Bush.

A jab at a guy who stated he wanted to stay in New Orleans but only so he wouldn't be a villain if New Orleans would pay him enough. When the Saints offered him the exact same deal as the Dolphins - yep, same deal - he bolted as expected.

Believe it or not, there is actually a bit of sympathy for the Dolphins here in New Orleans because we all knew what the team was getting. He IS talented, and the thing is that the problem isn't in how he's used. Sean Payton had the perfect system in order to use Bush and it was actually an offensive program garnered for him.

Yet he still didn't produce. He thinks he is 1000 times better than he is. He has NO idea how to run north and south. And he's too scared to get hit. All that running around and moving to go nowhere is more fear then him trying to make a play.

After watching the first three Miami games, I sincerely see a lot in this kid Thomas and hope he continues forward on the path he is on. After watching Bush in New Orleans for 5 years, it was actually an honor to say "good riddance." Still, there was no hope in us that he would plague another team.

Again, you have my sympathies and I wish the Dolphins the best of luck to turn things around this season.

Yea yea yea.....D Sproles does know how to go North-South, if you noticed R Bush is always running sideways or spinning but never putting his head down and running hard.

Well, good luck with that. Look at the stats:

http://www.nfl.com/player/reggiebush/2506874/careerstats

Reggie Bush was with the Saints for 5 years. If you read the numbers you see that they go down every year. Each new year he had fewer carries and fewer pass receptions. As for BIG plays, he has 17 rushing TDs over 5 years (3 per 16 games) and only 13 TD catches in 5 seasons (2.6 per 18 games)

So over his NFL career, he is only averaging close 6 TDs a season. Our other BIG PLAY guy(other then B Marshall only is worth 6 TDs a season. And his game play is on the decline.

And forget the kick offs, he has only returned one in 5 seasons.

As far as punt returns, I would not get two excited. He did have 3 TD returns three years ago but his average has been horrible since, in fact, D Bess has a better career average then R Bush has. Now including the TD he ran back in his first season, that gives him 4 for his NFL which is just a couple less then Ted Ginn and a lot less the D Sporles.

But then Sporles and Ginn are also good enough to run back kick offs for TDs.

Bush did look amazing in that one preseason game and I thought the change of scenery might invigorate him but its looking now like hes the same old Bush. But whats worse is or FO has no idea how to use him so its looking like a total bust for us.

:hclap:The bolded above is what has shocked me the most about Bush....he runs as if he is Ted Ginns brother....the kid does not want contact hence the east-west running and plenty of unnecessary jukes (and spins) that lead to negative yards. Bush is not that good folks, I don't care how he gets used.
