I am curious to get your take on how you feel about Sabans ability to bring "winning Football" players here to Miami.

I thought a fun way to do this is to look back on the player moves Saban made this past offseason.

Free Agent Additions: grade ( + or - )

Kevin Carter (+) Has been a productive player

Keith Traylor (+) next to Zach, has been the hart of the run defense

Vonnie Holliday (+)solid every down linemen

Donnie Spragen (-)kinda invisible

Travarous Tillman (-) most of his playing time has come due to injury

TeBucky Jones (-) even with injury he was having a non discript year

Gus Frerrotte (+) even though he has had some poor moments after watching
Jay Fiedler...AJ Feeley and now Sage you kinda get how poor the QB play is.
Stocker McDougal (-) should be starting RT instead is in a 3 man rotation

Lorenzo Diamond (+) he contributes in the run game

Donnie Jones (+) a solid job of punting

Draft Picks:

Ronnie Brown (+) slow start now maybe ROTY, will be feature back for years

Matt Roth (-) hard for rookie DL to make sudden impact, something is missing

Travis Daniels (+) starter almost from day one has been solid

Channing Crowder (+) maybe teams Def-ROTY after Brown drafts best player

Albini <sp?> OT- TCU (-) this grade may change this time next year

Kevin Vickerson ( ) before knee injury was coming on...injured no grade

Manuel Wright (-) a non-factor

9 of 17 new players have made a difference on the team with the execption of Ronnie Brown no one has shown flashes of brilliance simply steady solid play, while thats a positive remember Wanny made a career of bringing in average to solid players that where not "difference" makers.

With a second draft looking more likely to be a top 10 pick I feel Saban needs to hit on more then one "play maker" in the next FA/Draft class.

maybe it was just me but i thought tebucky was doing a good job

Tebucky was having a solid year, he had 8 tackles in the first game and was rarely ever caught out of position. He was very important in helping the run defense as each game he was next in tackles after Zach. As for your rating system, I'm not sure you can just give guys a plus or minus one year in... I mean they're rookies bro.

The only reason Spragan hasn't played is because Channing Crowder was A LOT better than anyone ever anticipated him to be, and of course Seau and Thomas.

Then you give minuses to the guys we chose in the late rounds of the draft and one guy we picked up in the supplemental draft. What did you honestly expect out of them?? How many 7th round picks are tearing up the league this year???

This topic is kind of ridiculous. You have to at least wait another year before grading the later round players. And please remind me how many good players did Wannstedt draft again?

My system is simply based how much a player added to the team as for T.Jones I agree I might be a bit off.

As for rookies well Wes Welker was a FA pick as a rookie last year and he was making a difference for the phins last year, so a 5th..6th..7th rounder doesnt have to come in an be a starter but the rook's I gave (-) except Roth arent even playing SP Teams.

True about Spragan but wouldn't you expect him to be better than a 36 year old vet???? I figured Seau would be situational this year.

You forgot Lance Schulters who I would also give a + to.

Nick will make this a competative team. It might not be untill next year and could quite possibly be the year after that if we have to go through the growing pains of a rookie or first year starting QB next year.
