I finally had the chance to watch the NFL Networks number one team and was happy that they made the right choice with the 1972 Dolphins. It wasn't even so much that Miami went undefeated, but the fact that they repeated in similar fashion. The 1985 Bears were amazing, but somehow they never got back to the super bowl. The Dolphins won two straight when home field advantage didn't exist. They had to beat the Steelers in Pittsburgh during their unbeaten season. During one stretch, the Dolphins won 29 out of 30 games. Think about that! The 17-0 followed by an opening loss to the Raiders (12-7) and then 12 straight wins.

What really strikes me in looking back was how smart that team was. That was always the teams character under Shula and I hope the current people in charge draft players who are football smart and who have an intense passion for the game.

The other thing that stands out is how many star players that team had. In that sense, the team was probably underrated as the talent was better than given credit for. I count eight superstars: Csonka, Warfield, Griese, Little, Langer, Buoniconti, Anderson and Scott. That offense was stacked with Morris, Kick, Kuch also playing prominent roles.

I thought Fernandez and Csonka did a great job telling the story. Man was Fernandez great when it counted the most. Hope we soon get that championship feeling again.
