would you guys rather of picker Braylon Edwards than Ronnie Brown? Or are you happy we got Ronnie? I just remember the story about how we told Braylon we were gonna pick him than backed out on it//

Definitely Ronnie . . . unfortunately he had the injury last year . . . but kid was on his way to a very special season. Braylon was hurt his first 2 years . . . but finally broke out last year . . .but still he wouldn't be used as effectively here because we haven't had a decent QB.

Still I wonder if getting Braylon . . . would have opened up the door for AP last year as a Fin . . . that would have been something.

Actually Imagine what our team would be like.
2005: Braylon Edwards
2006: Jay Cutler: ( I wanted him so bad, we could have easily kept our second and got him. 1st/3rd to move up)
2007: AP(trade up).
oh well! LOL wut a wish

Braylon Edwards is the better player BUT w/ your QB situation who knows what he could have done? Still I think Braylon would have been the better pick.

Let's see here....tough choice. Seeing as though we had a ridiculously bad run of turstile quarterbacks that couldn't get the ball downfield I'd have to say I'm glad we took Ronnie. At least the quarterback could place the ball in his hands

Whats your reasoning for this?

My reasoning is I think Edwards is a better WR than Ronnie is a RB. Ronnie is a good back but he has had durability issues so he has yet to have the true breakout season. Edwrads has averaged 15.5 yards per rec, that's great and he has 141 recs the last 2 years which is very good. He had 16 TDs last year- that's more than Ronnie has in 3 years running the football.

I like Brown, I think he's a good player but so far he hasn't been as good of a player as Edwards has been.

I wanted Braylon you could get a running back just as good as Ronnie and less injury prone in the second round or later.

If Brown gets hurt again or does not have a pro-bowl year he will become a bona-fide BUST!

I can accept that reasoning, but if we drafted edwards, IMO, he wouldnt be half of what he is now. Right now edwards is reaping the benefits of being on a great up and coming offense while Miami is still trying to find there offense. Braylon blew up this year as Ronnie was before his injury while he was leading the league in yards from scrimmage and top 3 in rushing yards. Had Ronnie been healthy all year, this convo might not be taking place. But I have always been of the mind that you can't really compare two different players on two different teams, in two different systems because like I said there is no telling what Braylon would have been like had we drafted him instead of Brown... Im happy with the Brown pick, edwards isnt even a thought in my mind.

Our coach that year tried to use the rumor of us drafting Braylon Edwards to try to trick a team into trading up into the #2 spot so he could move down accumulate more picks and still draft the running back he wanted. Of course it didn't work and he decided to select the best overall running back of the top 3 available, Ronnie Brown.

What you have to remember is, at the time of the 2005 NFL Draft, we were basically a team without a starting calibur running back. As a team we rushed for over 100 yards only five times in 16 games and our leading rusher gained just over 500 yards for the season. Ricky Williams was still retired and we were in dire need of a running back. Perhaps we could have followed the Detroit Lions lead and drafted a wide receiver when we had other needs but atleast we would have had a talented receiving corp with Braylon Edwards and Chris Chambers. Who knows, maybe the QB tandem of Jay Fiedler, AJ Feeley and Sage Rofenfels could have made our passing game succeed without the need of a running game with the receiving corp we would have put on the field that year.

I would have preferred Braylon as a player but much like Atlanta this year we had bigger needs and went runningback. 2005 was one of the weakest drafts in a long time.
