Better. Not good enough. But better.

I've already written this season off as a reload. New everything. So I don't care if they go 5-11 or 11-5.

As long as they show consistent improvement. Consistent.

I don't care about playoffs because I don't think we'd go anywhere. Not yet. So, who cares?

But the O moved the ball and the D was hitting last night. Both sides showed a little aggression. That's improvement.

And Tannehill looks like a kid with a new toy. He has a ways to go, yes. But he looks MUCH more confident than he ever has. And I believe this will continue to grow. Thank God.

The line needs to push better for runs, the secondary and LBS need a few more guys. And the team needs to become a team.

But overall, better.

The D played better and tackled better.....I am going to take the O and the protection with a grain of salt because as mentioned, the Falcons have a VERY young D. I thought Steen looked very good and handled a very good player! Luppet really worries me is he is still very raw and lacks instincts for the position.

Walmsley needs to get into the early dt rotation. The kid is to good, to strong and to consistant to languish on the bench and he wont last on the practice squad. Suh has to have another consistant disrupter next to him and it sure aint earl mitchell. Earl mitchell has ONE move, the bull rush. And even though he is real good on the bull rush, he can rarely get off to make the play!! He will push a guy 10 yds back and then stand there and dance with him instead of shedding him and yanking down the qb or rb.

Having that real deal pressure guy next to suh will make a NOTICABLE difference for this defense. To bad he cant cover wr's because we are in need at that position more than any other.

That GRAY kid. He is another that needs to be seeing action on game day. Just to many lumber hits and good awareness. Good closing speed. Safety or corner, we cant have enough quality db's on the team.

oh come on man, if we actually went 11-5 & made the playoffs , you would be overwhelmed with joy . I know I would haha

I understand (most) everyone's tempered expectations - but I think this post (mostly) sums it up well.

Could it look better? Sure.

BUT let's enjoy something we haven't seen in a long time; talk backed up by results. The tempo, pass blocking, and most importantly, Tannehill's control of the offense that we heard about all offseason were on full display last night. And I loved it.

Philbin and Lazor are complete morons for not letting Tannehill audible....and the fact that their route concepts stink.

The best part is the team is showing improvement. Still a few areas of weakness but they can/should get better.

If it happens during the regular season, I will definitely enjoy it.

I think this offense has the potential to be extremely productive as long as our OL continues to improve, but it's probably going to take between 6 and 8 games for it to realize its full potential. I expect growing pains especially in our first few weeks, but after that I am confident we'll see a very good offense on the field.

On defense though, I worry about our depth and talent level. We're gonna need Vance Joseph to be really good at calling plays. He's kind of the ? mark on this coaching staff for me.

Still think we'll see much better coaching than what we saw with Philbin. Which doesn't say much, but still.

But there's definitely a difference between what he's saying and what you're saying.

Tannehill did a good job but can please stop with those 1 yard dump offs on 3rd downs. They need 6+ yards for a 1st down and they throw to Pead and Damien Williams for 1 yard gains??

With all the weapons Tannehill has go for the 1st down especially knowing you can get a defensive penalty flag being thrown.

Exactly. Seeing better play is nice and all, but it'd be nice to see the team get used to winning. I'll take a playoff loss over same ol same ol

all signs are pointing in the right direction

boy are we gonna spin the rock a lot this year...29 attempts in a half of football

Yep. I'm guessing we are among league leaders in passes to the RB's. Gase should have first team out there next week doing nothing but running the ball for about 3 series. So far he has gotten them better in different areas. Now it's time to refine that run blocking.

Ajayi seems like he needs to learn some patience and wait for his blocks to set up. He hits the hole hard which is normally good but maybe not so much for this type of blocking scheme. Foster seemed to fare a little better with the one-cut running. I think you can teach Ajayi to be patient but his vision is definitely in question at this point. He also seems off balance when he catches the ball.

I will always care. 5-11 or 11-5....I'm plugged in regardless. Consistent improvement can happen every year and your team doesn't make it to the playoffs. There are no guarantees so if Miami makes it, I'm going to be flipping out and trash talking.
Sorry.
