All over Twitter and being reported by Shefter that with Greg Williams leaving the Saints to go to the Rams to be their DC, the Saints main targets are Steve Spagnuolo and Mike Nolan, and even if Nolan does not get picked for the Saints, he is also up for the open DC position for the Falcons

Regarding how he is just able to leave even though he is under contract,

reported by Ben Volin of the PBP "Nolan's technically under contract with Dolphins, but it's a renewable option thing that he can get out of. He worked with Mike Smith in BAL"

So who does everyone want as the new DC? My guess is the popular option will be Spagnuolo as the "big name" but i guess it will all depend on the coach

The Fisher gaff rocked the Fins foundation...Nolan leaving is just another chunk of plaster falling off.

Congrats to Ross and Ireland.

Nolan is solid, but replaceable. I think his inability to close games as the team's DC leaves a ton to be desired.

If we stay with the 3-4, then Todd Bowles or Eric Mangini would be fine replacements off of the top of my head.

I agree, the defense was a big part of 0-7. Bowles would be fine as DC

Most fans wanted Nolan gone after 0-7 now we are crying because he actually is gone?

WOW! Am I the only one who thinks the Saints are far, I mean very far, from having the personnel to run a 3-4... They'd have to go D all draft...

Exactly..LOL.... We are a forgetful bunch aren't way?? When it comes to complaining, we Finfans are all about the "Flavor of the day"!!!!

You have to wonder if the Saints are pissed with the Gregg Williams rumors coming out about him joining Fisher in St. Louis. Was Williams distracted? He looked it yesterday. Terrible decisions at the end of the game.

Good riddance. Nolan is overrated.

I'd love to see Spags coaching our D.

Yeah I did watch it as I had personnal interest in it... Not sure you can blame the DC in a game where his team had like 5 TOs if I remember correctly... But I agree, I have nothing against bringing pressure on every play, but damn the dude could have laid off the all outs ... I mean FK! How many times are you going to get burned leaving only three deeps in coverage...?

Nolan was reported as leaving when Meatball was let go, Fisher had nothing to do with it

You guys are right. He was leaving anyways and he sucked as a defensive coordinator.
He left because the franchise is a circus, and he didn't want to be part of the show.

More importantly how do you NOT double team the 49ers only real receiving threat and Alex Smith's favorite target Vernon Davis, and even worse he did not learn after Davis burnt them twice, on that huge play down the sideline, then to win the game how do you not double the biggest most physical "jump ball" guy they have?
