NOT ACCOUNTABLE=reality

''I think they do get affected some by the fact we have not won and . . . because there's a lot of negative things that go on about the not winning that has gone on here for some time now,'' he said.
``That attitude has to change. There has to be a confidence and a belief that you do it a certain way and it works. You make plays. And you have to have prime-time players to do it.''------SABAN

Players such as Jason Taylor and Joey Harrington didn't agree with Saban's assessment of the team's confidence level.
''That's his opinion,'' Taylor said. ``He's the head coach, and he can have that opinion. If that's what he sees, that's what he sees. I'm allowed to see things differently

UNDISCIPLINED-PENALTY RIDDEN-TURNOVER PRONE-POOR PLAY=COACHING........PERIOD!

JOEY HARRINGTON ON DROPPED PASSES"WE ALL MAKE MISTAKES"

(On how much receivers dropping balls affects him) – “I didn’t even know it until you guys started talking about it. It’s not something that’s in my head. I am going to make mistakes; they are going to make mistakes. That’s part of being human. That’s part of playing the game of football is overcoming those

WHERE DOES HE GET THIS MENTALITY? COACH? HE SHOULD SAY IT'S NOT ACCEPTABLE! NO,ZERO....ACCOUNTABILITY. WHERE,WHERE IS THE ACCOUNTABILITY.

I admire Joey's stance he's not throwing his players under the bus. Saban on the other hand follows that quoted statement up by saying his only primetime players are injured or in Canada. There is clearly a line being built here between the coach and the team and that is a very bad thing. Saban has lost the team the only way out of this hole is now to either lose Saban or to lose the team. If we do dump all thses guys and start fresh with a new team whose to say Saban will do any better with his second chance? These guys played great when Linehan came down on the sidelines last year and they no longer had ot deal with Saban. Now that Linehans gone they are 1-6.

It seems obvious to me Saban is the problem, not the solution.

Good Point, But Saban Needs To Stress Accountibility, Not Overcoming Mistakes

I agree...it's not pretty....but we already have a Saban is losing the team thread....perhaps we can merge them?

Before Saban can call for accountability, he will have to consult the psychiatrists to find out how to do it.

Well I don't know how you tie in the Jason Taylor remarks with what you're saying GRT8...because they really seem like two different topics. I watched that whole post-game show and Jason Taylor was talking about the notion that the team has lost confidence because of all the losing. Taylor disagreed, pure and simple.

However, the reporter didn't really quote Saban right. He suggested that "Saban said you guys have lost some confidence". He never said that. He said that he thinks that some of the negative things that have gone on have had a little effect on the players, with the way society is so results-oriented that is to be expected.

If you asked Nick Saban right now, has this team lost confidence, he would say no...just like Jason Taylor said no, just like Joey Harrington said no, just like Wes Welker said no, just like Randy McMichael said no.

That said, I do agree with you that Joey Harrington showed a lack of accountability when he went on defending everyone by saying "everyone is going to make mistakes" etc. The press were TRYING to get him to take swipes at his receivers and he refused to play along. So, I definitely commend Joey for the thought behind his answer, he was just trying to defend his guys. However, you're right...mistakes are not acceptable, period. They shouldn't be acceptable to your quarterback, whether they be his own mistakes or the mistakes of those around him. There has to be accountability on that...but not necessarily public accountability/criticism.

The best way Joey could have answered that question is to say that those mistakes, those drops are not acceptable, but neither are his missed throws and that really this has nothing to do with looking at other players and saying you all need to play better, and everything to do with looking in the mirror and saying if I would have made a few more of the throws that I missed, we win this ball game...so it's on me.

But unfortunately, you don't get time to plan out your answers to these questions, and it's not really in Joey's nature to say all that anyway.

Maybe Saban needs a shrink. His madman meltdown act at the press conferences speak to a man losing... control.

Saban is right about making it happen and MAKING PLAYS. Yesterdays game highlighted exactly why we arnt winning. Making plays seems to be beyond this team at the moment. We cant intercept a ball. Useless. Dropped catches is a bad habit and its killing this team.

like the lines father to son in "walk the line" the movie........I modified them a little.

what do you have...an injured and a recycled Qb......nothing
what do you have.....a good defense and a offense that can't run....nothing
what do you have....a good RB with zero blocking........nothing

just a joke guys.

I think everyone is getting real tired of Saban's mantra saying that the results don't matter, just the execution.... That's double talk because you have yo have good execution to get good results. But the results do matter more than he let's on.
