I know that he had some questionable calls last year, that may have even cost us the playoff's if you wanna go back and look at it. Some I'm not saying that losing Linehan is a huge loss. What I am saying though is that unless they promote somebody from within that plans on keeping the same offense we are going to have to start from scratch again. Therefore we may not see the offense click like it did the last 6 games until its too late again. Maybe I'm over exagerating or something, but I think Linehan leaving could really hurt us for next year. Thoughts?

It is a blow, but I am sure Saban has planned for this day a long time ago. Saban is always thinking ahead, and I am sure he will do what is best to keep relatively the same offensive scheme.

It hurts, but with Saban, we have a chance to minimize the damage.

Equally as much as hurting us, it may also help us in the long run. Short term speaking, he was destined to leave with success. Conversly, if we can bring in or elevate someone within who has success, he may be here for a few years.

One of the good things I think Saban has done is brought in some real talent in the coaching staff--and as we are adding depth with our players, he has done so with the coaching staff for such occasions. That being said, I do wish he could have stayed another year or two to further groom his replacement.

It will definatly hurt, how much it will hurt depends on who his replacement will be. If we don't get someone with a similar scheme epect our offense to start off slow next year and heat up as it adjusts to the new offense. As much as I hate to see Linehan go I am confident our offense will be fine. I honestly believe we have the talent to make any decent offensive coordinator look good.

1. I don't think it hurts us at all. Maybe players have more homework to do in the offseason, but do it they will.

2. It wasn't just linehan's offense... it was also somewhat Saban's. It's not like he's going to suddenly go west coast because linehan left. there will be continuity... Nick is our continuity.

3. Better that it happen now before we are really settled much anyway. We will have a new quarterback, etc, anyway. So let's get a young guy in for OC and take the next step to being a dynasty.

I'm actually kind of glad Linehan's gone, I think it will help. Looking forward to what Saban does.

I think we'll be OK......Linehan did a good job in terms of improving the offense as a whole, but during the hot streak at the end of the season, I'm almost 100% sure that I read somewhere that Saban was getting more involved in the offense as the season progressed. Not to mention, Linehan did have some very questionable/borderline dumb play calls late in the game (see Falcons & first Patriots game)

Personally, I believe we'll promote Charlie Baggett to the offensive coordinator post (he can't go anywhere without permission from the Dolphins) and if that fails I say we go after Mike Martz.

Sure, coordinators are a factor, but I believe it's mostly about the players. Billick was considered an offensive genius when he was the OC in Minn and had Moss and Co. Now he has been the coach of possibly the lamest offense in the NFL over the last 2 years or so. Why? Their offensive players suck. The game is about confidence, and I believe Chambers, McMike and the rest will carry that over to next year under the leadership of Saban, with or without Linehan.
