It's the one thing we haven't really been talking about AT ALL. He's one of the best in the business and what was expected to be our best unit has been suffering big time because of it.

Just something to note - especially for all the people hating on Coyle (who has been FAR AND AWAY our best coordinator between Philbin/Coyle/Lazor/Sherman).

Also, part of everyone's meltdowns are the expectations you set for this team... we were a team lacking depth and having very injury prone players as KEY pieces on our weakest units (Delmas, Albert, Misi). When the *inevitable* happens, and you haven't properly prepared yourself to handle it, you're going to suffer, and we're seeing it first hand.

This team still has more than enough talent and time to turn things around, but I was coming into the season expecting 9 wins, not 11 or 12 like some people on this message board. Temper your expectations to realistic numbers and you wont be so up and down emotionally when our perpetually mediocre franchise plays inconsistently. We have strengths and we have lots of weaknesses, and we've got no depth and our defensive talent is far from elite other than Grimes, Jones, and a pretty good (yet underachieving) DL.

At the end of the day, our offense is not putting up enough points, regardless of who you want to blame. That has been our weakness every season. I don't blame the defense for that, just maybe that last 6 game stretch of last season (which we had GARBAGE starting games and yet people still blamed Coyle).

Just wanted to get that off my chest, thats all. Go Fins.

Meh..call me crazy! But I didn't think he was all that great. Lets not pretend the Jets didn't have massive talent on that side of the ball before he got there. IMO, Wake and OV have been the same players for a few years now.

I think he did a great job developing our talent... he made Wake better, Vernon better, Starks, Soliai, Odrick, Langford - all these guys steadily improved while they were here playing under him.

But beyond just him, I think Coyle gets too much blame when he's been working with chicken **** for half of his units at all times.

Yep 1 sack with Suh on this team is unacceptable with the only loss being Rogers means that this line is highly underperforming based on potential. Our coaches just do not measure up so far and Rogers was the best of the lot.

im not here to defend coyle but its really too early to say. you cant expect everything to be running like a well oiled machine 2 games into the session with all these new parts

If Joe wanted to build relationships that were positive with the players perhaps he should have fired Coyle and promoted Rodgers...instead he relaxed a dress code and took them to Lincoln Memorial.

joe is just avg coach 8-8....he don't know how get dolphins to next level....

Agree. And 1 sack would be completely unacceptable if Suh wasn't on the team and we just had the other D-linemen to rely on. With him it's an abomination. We tied a ton of resources in the d-line. They need to be dominant. Absolutely dominant. 1 sack in 2 games is absolute impotence especially when added to struggles they are having in stopping the run.

You lost me when you started praising Coyle. The guy needs to get fired ASAP.

Don't want to take anything away from Rodgers, and he may be a good developer of talent, but I am not buying that he is missed that much. Last year too many times I saw Odrick and Starks being handled one on one buy opposing o-lineman.

Making 3rd string QB's and QB's who didn't have much success in the NFL look like Pro-bowlers??? You call that best coordinator?

No question we miss him. Rodgers and Bowles have more coaching ability and success than anyone left on our defense. Just look at Kacy's role now to understand that he has considerable value in this league. underwhelming dlines have been a consistent staple of Coyle's time here. I don't think there's much Kacy could do to counteract a broken defensive scheme devised by an idiot.

Losing Rodgers was big, but keeping Philbin has been our biggest weakness. I'm not going to sit here and praise Coyle, I'm saying he's been our best coach - and that's not saying much at all.

Sherman was bad, Lazor is up and down (he looks promising), and Philbin has been AWFUL. I've wanted him gone by the end of his 2nd season when I saw no improvement.

At the end of the day, our GM and personnel department needs to get a lot of blame too. I just have a hard time putting TOO MUCH blame on Coyle when we've started guys like Jason Trusnik, Jimmy Wilson, Walt Aikens, Kelvin Sheppard, etc etc - we've never had good LB's since Coyle has been here... I mean, we've had bottom 5 units the last couple years, that's AWFUL. That's a major deficiency and weakness. We started a guy at #2 CB last season on a MNF game who was bagging groceries the week before.

You want to blame the coordinator for the garbage players we've been marching out there? I don't think Coyle is perfect, but our defensive depth and talent has been pathetic at important positions CONSISTENTLY. How do you guys, who hate Coyle, respond to that? Just trying to open up the conversation...
