Aside from the obvious tie break implications. We needed to know where we were at and our secondary (against Miler) was not up to snuff. Nate Washington's TD was 1 second too late for Tillman. Batch played lights out. Let's give the guy credit. At the end of the day. We have the the team to compete. Now Saban goes to work. BTW, J.Allen.....get ready......we didn't draft you to be a back-up........get er goin.....soon....

Chambbers dropped an easy TD late in the 2nd quarter that hurt us. The guy has to step up his game. Welker was awesome. OL played great 90% of the time. Culpepper made 3-4 terible decisions.......before the game was out of hand.

Miami has a lot to build off. Stay the course Saban.....and I know you will.....

That pass to Miller came off Zach Thomas' coverage not the secondary.

agreed...CC played like a punk tonight! the balls were there to be caught...but that's SOOOO Chris...drop the easy ones...catch the 'highlight' throws, right?!?

just for the record the OL played fairly well for......45 percent of the game

All meaningless until we beat the a contending team which we wont geta a chance to until the pats!

Saban said at the press conference after the game that Will Allen was out of place.

Guys I am not making excuses. I do want to say though I am just as bummed about the loss as everyone else. We had a chance to win the game and we just didn't get it done. There were things that we could sit and second guess but they are irrelevent.

I have read a lot about the 3rd and 2 call. I agree, but if it had worked it would have been a great call. I would have liked to see us run the ball more. We started getting some momentum going when we scored the 2nd TD running the ball. I am surprised that we didn't run the ball in the redzone right before the half.

The secondary played horrible tonight but I think about quotes from the leaders on the D. I have heard time and time again about how complicating the D is. We had 3 new starters that are trying to get use to a completely different system, and also the trust in each other. Its a process. ONe thing is for sure they will only get better.

Up by 3 with less than 7 mins to go aint nothing to seeze at when your playing at the defending Superbowl Champions house on opening night. Miami has a lot to build off from what I can tell. Culpep played good the first half and not so good the 2nd. Chambers played horrible, dropping a perfectly thrown TD pass in the first half's final 2 mins.

And I'm going to give some credit to Charlie Batch. He made 4-5 perfect throw last night.......all three of his TD's (the Miller one wasn't hard to connect on) and scrambled when there was no one opened. Ben could not have played better IMO.

Interesting observation....

Travis was out too... hes more familiar with the system having been in it for 6 years now

Good post, let's keep it positive. We pretty much dictated the action in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Steelers just raised their game a level in the 4th, and we didn't match it. I thought on the whole that we played well enough, except for a couple plays. (Heath Miller play, Lehan penalty, failed 3rd and 2 conversion)

Overall, I think we stood toe to toe with them for most of the game. On the touchdown pass to Heath Miller. Looking at my recording (again and again), I think that Zach had that responsibility. The secondary was giving Ward a little much breathing room but overall played ok. I thought Saban was going to have a heart attack on the Lehan penalty. It was awesome to watch that A^& chewing on the sidelines. We have alot of work to do, but you can see that this team is much improved from last year.

Maybe I'm alone on this but I dont think losing is...EVER...a good thing...not the end of the world......but uh.....not a good thing.

I might have found some silver lining during this game, from what I can remember, we didn't get any false start penalties!

Did anyone see us get a false start during the game, cause if there was one I could have missed it.
