his New York toughness was apparent and rubbed off on his defensive unit yesterday. Hopefully it was not a one-week wonder and it will continue throughout the season . The Dolphins play in the toughest division and the defense will have to be at their best week in and week out but this New York boy or should I say New York man has made good so far!!!!!!!

He's got a lot to cover up for. According to PFF here are the grades of our defense:

DT (184 ranked players)
Ndamukong Suh 14th
Jordan Phillips 127th
C.J. Mosley 135th
Earl Mitchell 135th
A.J. Francis 170th

DE (149 rated players)
Derrick Shelby 38th
Cameron Wake 39th
Olivier Vernon 47th
Terrence Fede 135th

LB (153 rated players)
Koa Misi 7th
Jelani Jenkins 10th
Spencer Paysinger 33rd
Neville Hewitt 44th
Zach Vigil 92nd
Chris McCain 102nd
Kelvin Sheppard 146th

CB (169 rated players)
Brent Grimes 15th
Zack Bowman 58th
Bobby McCain 61st
Brice McCain 110th
Jamar Taylor 131st

Safety (135 rated players)
Reshad Jones 6th
Micheal Thomas 95th
Jordan Kovacs 104th
Walt Aikens 127th

We're basically playing with 1 DT, 2 DE, 2 LBs, 1 CB and 1 Safety. There's no MLB on this team and a huge hole opposite Grimes and no FS.

This is why I put zero value in PFF. We have two of the top 10 LB's?!? :bobdole:

Gotta agree our linebackers are a bit overranked. The cb's are young outside of Grimes and the same thing at Safty with Jones. What do the ranking show on the O side of the ball does anyone know.

Yeah it shows that we suck on that side of the ball too lol. Only Pouncey his highly ranked on the O-line (4th rated Center), James (27th OT) and Turner (24th OG) are average...everyone else is way below average. Dallas Thomas (97th out of 102 OGs) and Jamil Douglas (100th) and even Albert (56th out of 105 OTs) are below average.

I still saw a dc that depended an awful lot on his front 4 to bring pressure...worked out in this one but what happens when the front doesn't have it? Can the dc adjust we'll see

post the entire offenses pff grades please

james can play right tackle for me any day...albert is still working back to health...looked better movement wise vs the titans but still has some issues dealing with speed off the corner...not quite the same lateral athlete yet...but it's getting better...dont know if he will get back to 2014 pre injury form this year though...but at least it's trending up

our secondary outside of Jones is still pretty trash, especially with Grimes hurt. Of course the blame for that falls on Tannenickey and Philbin, not Lou

I agree re the lack of a decent MLB but we have known this for months. I think that it's amazing how so many people take the PFF grades as gospel. What was Cam Wake's grade before this game? Maybe some of the players don't blindly accept it.

Those rankings appear to be based purely on their on field production this season...

Naturally, right?

Well we all know how the Dolphins have played this year before that Titans game.

I still think Coyle's absence was a bigger factor than Philbin's.

Just getting rid of Coyle made a HUGE difference
