NBC8, via the Tampa Tribune, is reporting that Pinella will accept a $2.2 million buyout this week. Pinella will be able to look for work with any team. Ownership is stepping in.

C-Ya.

I couldn't see him going to the Mets. Their happy with Willie and he'll get another year. The Yankees are a possibility if the Yankees fail to make the playoffs and the Boss has his panty's in a bunch. It's funny, I was thinking one of the reasons why Lou was so intense when the D-Rays played the Yankees (and actually went to the mound himself to take out a pitcher) was because he silently wants the Yankees to fail so he could get the job. Sounds crazy but I had that conspiracy in my head. Anyways I think Lou will have some nice jobs to choose from next year. Their could be openings in L.A. (the Dodgers), Florida, Chicaco White Sox (if they collapse and somehow miss the playoffs Guillen is gone IMO), and also the Cubs (their wearing thing with patience with Dusty). I think he's going to have some nice offers on the table!

I actually think Lou has a better shot at being a Met next year than a Yankee. It's not secret that the Mets have always wanted Lou as their manager and frankly I don't think Willie has done a great job as manager. I can see the Mets dumping Willie and getting Lou.

LA is a good one. I don't see him in FL because he doesn't work well with young talent. Chicago White Sox I can't see getting rid of Guillen, I think he's a good manager that knows the game. And last I heard the Cubs aren't willing to pay Dusty Baker money to sit at home so he'll be back next year and then he's gone. I am glad however that Baker is getting exposed as a bad manager because I've been telling people that for years.

He's killing my Cubbies. He needs to teach them how to run the bases. We have one of the most talented teams in baseball, when we're healthy, & he's won't let man of our kids play.

If McKeon leaves, he's going to come to Florida. He still wants to be close to his family but be on a good team, and the Marlins are not as young as everyone thinks. Willis and Cabrera will be in their 4th season, Beckett in his 5th full, and everybody else except for Hermida, Vargas, and maybe Scott Olsen who figures to be here next year will not be too young.

Possible new homes for next year:

New York (AL or NL)
Baltimore

He won't go to the Mets. The Mets just hired Randolph. That is an idiotic statement.

B'more is possible. And only if NYY don't make the playoffs will that job be open.

He left TB because they won't spend money. Now he is going to go to the Marlins who have said if they don't make the playoffs are going to trade Delgado and will not spend any money???????????? Don't see that happening.

How is that an idiotic statement? A first year manager has never gotten fired before so the team could hire a better manager? When did Willie Randolph turn into Bobby Cox or even Joe Torre? The Mets have always wanted Lou and made no secret about it. A big reason why they didn't get him from Seattle was because they weren't willing to give up Jose Reyes who would have went to Seattle was compension. And like I said before Willie hasn't really impressed the Mets FO or the fans with some his decisions this year. In my opinion I think the Mets FO will talk to Lou in the off season about it and I'm sure Lou would jump at the opportunity to be back in a big market.

If they fired Randolph after 1 year the Mets will turn off a large part of their fanbase. They would be considered racist for hiring a minority then firing him after one year for a white guy who hasn't done anything since his days in the early 90's in Cincy (aside from choking in Seattle). And the media backlash would haunt that franchise for years to come.

It's idiotic becuase it will never happen.

I don't agree with Ray but it's not an idiotic statement. I know where's coming from. The Mets DID want Sweet Lou but I don't think they do anymore. From everything I hear all around is that Willie is more then safe and everyone is actually very happy with him in his first year. I understand Ray's side, the Mets wanted Lou BAD, but I think that time has come and passed and I think Willie is more then safe. I would be shocked if the Mets fired him. Most Mets fans I talk to have no problems with Willie and they've all basically gotten what they expected from this team this season (around .500). It's the bullpen Mets fans have had a problem with. The Mets knew their bullpen would be a problem when the season started and that hasn't changed now. Not Willies fault the Mets couldn't get a dominate closer. If they Mets had a decent closer they'd still be alive, at least I think so!

Again if you actually took the time to read what I wrote I stated that Lou has a better shot at being the next Met manager then the next Yankee manager. I never said Lou WILL be the next Met manager.

Thanks for taking the time to write an actual response and even if you don't agree with me instead of just calling me and my opinions idiotic, like some people. Your response is insightful I think some people should follow your example instead of just putting something down.

Once again, Mike, read Gammons' line before you keep spouting off with that. The link is in another thread.

As a Devil Ray fan, i say thank god! im not saying hes a bad manager, but hes sure as hell a horrible manager for a club that doesnt have alot of money
