There is not doubt that this situation is very frustrating for Dolphin fans. That being said, we have always been told that it is done for anti-competition reasons.

We were always told that Miami could not be shown on Saturdays because there was College Football being played.

Well, I may have been the only person to notice this, but, LSU v. Tennessee was played at the same time as the Monday Night Game. It was shown live to all cable audiences on ESPN2.

I don't know about you guys, but this really pisses me off. Given this fact, Miami should be shown live. No ifs ands or buts about it.

Hmm, decent point. I think the law would point out that NFL games are not allowed to compete with college games, but college games are allowed to compete with NFL games...

I can't imagine the NFL would agree to that. Thats just bad policy.

So the league that rules them all agreed to allow College Football to have Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday.....And we get Sunday, Monday? If that is the case then these monkey's need to learn something about good negotiation. Ya know, so give and take, not just give.

I understand, but that is why it is a double standard. They added the game onto ESPN 2. Under that same reasoning they could add the Miami game on to ESPN 2.

The problem is there's an actual law on the books governing the issue, and I do not believe the law in question prevents a college game from being moved onto an NFL game day and subsequently being shown on television, however it does prevent an NFL game being moved to a college or high school game day and subsequently being shown on television.

The law was written in the days before 500 channels of cable. Colleges and high schools were afraid that the NFL would start to encroach on their Friday and Saturday games and steal their fan base away. This was well before anybody thought to air college football on Thursday, let alone Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Friday.

It's an archaic law that deserves to be repealed, but such a move would have to come from affected fans, and even then would stand scant chance of passage.

You'd figure the NFL could get an army of lawyers to bury that law.

No they couldn't. The game is on CBS, which is in direct competition with ABC/ESPN. Besides, the NFL is not allowed to show games on ESPN2, only ESPN.

It aint on CBS where I live. Ignoring the 1940's rule that I would like to get a copy of, it appears that CBS, ABC, ESPN and the NFL are like that kid that has an apple he does not want (figuratively the live Miami Game) who would rather let it rot then give it to someone else. Sometimes it sucks to be a Dolphins fan.
