There will be mixed opinions on LSU WR Dwayne Bowe, the star of the Senior Bowl, who only ran in the low 4.5s. Some teams may figure that’s plenty good for a 220-pound physical receiver, while others may feel that’s a tad slow for a top 20 WR. On the other hand, South Carolina sophomore WR Sidney Rice definitely disappointed when he only ran in the mid 4.5 range. Both Bowe and Rice, though, did catch the ball well in the individual receiving drills. Other receivers to turn in slower than expected 40 times included Clemson’s Chansi Stuckey and Ryan Moore of Miami, both of whom ran in the 4.6 range.

I know many of you thought he could be Miami's pick so I posted this. I also posted Ryan Moores time as I earlier posted something about him. All I can say about Ryan's time is ouch. He will still get drafted and play well I think but if he goes above the fourth round now it will be a miracle.

He was never going before round 7 anyway.

I think these times lowers their stock and that's a good thing for us as there's more of a chance that Bowe or Rice will still be on the board at 40. And let's be honest, 4.5 is not too shabby when you're as big as both these guys- 6'3/6'4.

Robert Meachem definitely moved ahead of both Rice and Bowe and Anthony Gonzalez may have as well.

... Everyone expected Bowe to run in the 4.5 range, and everyone expected Rice to not be a burner..

This really had no effect on their draft status..

I agree. Bowe always looks a 4.45/4.50 runner. He ran just how I thought he'd run. I don't think this hurts him at all. I still think he comes of the board in the 15-25 area.

I'll designate myself the less experienced of the 3 opinions but I think you guys ae wrong. Rice and Bowe have both been rated above Robert Meachem in most of the rankings I've layed eyes on and Meachem has certainly changed that.

As far as where they will be drafted, I haven't the slightest idea but I don't expect to see 6 WRs go in the first round. And until Jarrett runs at his pro day, I am of the opinion that Ginn, Jarrett, and Meachem are the first 3 wide outs off the board. After Johnson ofcourse.

Don't really agree with that. I've always said Meacham has been the x-factor in that because he wasn't - obviously - in Mobile, he's always had the potential to move up to behind Johnson. But the body of work, save for his junior year was OK, but not great, in large part because of the inconsistent play at QB. So rvally, the Combine was going to be his first shot at trying to do that and he did it well.

So you expect teams at this point in time to have Meachem ahead of Bowe and Rice on their draft boards?

Not bad for a 220 lb WR. Bouldin and Colston are in that category.

Certainly above Rice, who has some inconsitency issues. As for Bowe, some teams will have the LSU man ahead, others, the Vol. Horses for courses.

I have a feeling that Ginn is going to fall. He reminds too many people of Donte Stallworth. Not going to be a consistent WR in the NFL IMO.

Just 2 words...

Anquan Boldin

Exactly, no one thought of Bowe or Rice as burners. Running in the low 4.5 range is good for their size. Bowe stays put in draft status and Rice is a potential late 1st-early 2nd round pick.
